Each <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2026/08/07/bnb-price-tests-606-after-grayscale-makes-it-top-fund-holding/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Grayscale ETF filing</a> used Form RW and cited Rule 477 under the Securities Act of 1933. The filings say the sponsor will not proceed with the planned share distributions.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">ADA, HBAR, and DOT fell about 2% as traders assessed the coordinated withdrawals. However, the documents do not identify demand, regulation, or economics as the reason. They also show no SEC rejection, since Grayscale voluntarily ended registrations that never became effective. Grayscale issued, sold, or distributed no shares under the related prospectuses.</p><h2 id="h-grayscale-etf-withdrawals-end-three-registration-plans" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Grayscale ETF Withdrawals End Three Registration Plans</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The SEC accepted the Cardano, Hedera, and Polkadot requests within 190 seconds on Friday. EDGAR accepted <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2083106/000119312526340377/ada_rw_08072026.htm?utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Cardano at 4:33:37 p.m. ET</a>, followed by <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2084948/000208494826000002/hbar_rw_08072026.htm?utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Hedera at 4:34:55</a> and <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2083137/000119312526340384/0001193125-26-340384-index.htm?utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Polkadot at 4:36:47</a>.</p><div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img width="742" height="812" src="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/image-102.png" alt="Grayscale Withdrew ETF Filings for ADA, HBAR, and DOT | Source: X" class="wp-image-2432667"><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"> Grayscale Withdrew ETF Filings for ADA, HBAR, and DOT | Source: X </figcaption></figure></div><p class="wp-block-paragraph">All three requests repeat the same operational explanation. The sponsor no longer intends to distribute shares registered through those statements. The simultaneous timing indicates that Grayscale handled the withdrawals as a single coordinated filing.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2083106/000119312526340377/0001193125-26-340377-index.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Cardano</a>, <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2084948/000208494826000002/0002084948-26-000002-index.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Hedera</a>, and <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2083137/000119312526340384/0001193125-26-340384-index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Polkadot </a>documents also confirm that regulators never declared the registrations effective. Therefore, no securities entered the market, and no preliminary prospectus reached investors.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Grayscale originally filed the Cardano and Polkadot S-1 statements on Aug. 29, 2025. It submitted the HBAR ETF registration on Sept. 9, 2025. These dates show that the proposals spent nearly one year in registration.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The new submissions remove the S-1 statements and their amendments from the active process. The requests take effect upon filing unless the SEC objects within 15 calendar days under Rule 477(b).</p><h2 id="h-earlier-exchange-filings-had-already-closed-the-listing-route" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Earlier Exchange Filings Had Already Closed the Listing Route</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The three funds had already lost their product-specific exchange proposals during the last year. NYSE Arca <a href="https://www.sec.gov/rules-regulations/self-regulatory-organization-rulemaking/national-securities-exchanges/all-years?field_display_title_value=&amp;file_number=&amp;month=All&amp;order=field_publish_date&amp;page=184&amp;release_number=&amp;sort=desc&amp;sro_organization=All&amp;year=All&amp;utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">withdrew the Cardano listing proposal </a>on Sept. 29, 2025. Nasdaq withdrew <a href="https://www.sec.gov/rules-regulations/self-regulatory-organization-rulemaking/national-securities-exchanges?field_display_title_value=&amp;file_number=&amp;month=All&amp;order=field_publish_date&amp;page=15&amp;release_number=&amp;sort=asc&amp;sro_organization=192811&amp;year=All&amp;utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">the HBAR ETF and DOT ETF</a> proposals on Nov. 3, 2025.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Those actions concerned exchange listing permission, while the August filings concerned public share registration. This distinction explains why the new documents are not SEC rejection orders.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">In September 2025, the SEC adopted generic listing standards for qualifying commodity-based trust shares. Those standards allow eligible crypto products to avoid the need for separate Section 19(b) proposals.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">However, sponsors still need effective Securities Act registrations before selling shares. Grayscale withdrew that registration layer for all three products.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The filings offer no separate explanation for removing the Cardano, HBAR ETF, or DOT ETF plans. Claims involving weak demand or regulatory pressure, therefore, lack confirmation from the documents.</p><h2 id="h-grayscale-etf-pipeline-still-includes-other-altcoin-funds" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Grayscale ETF Pipeline Still Includes Other Altcoin Funds</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Grayscale has not abandoned its broader <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2026/04/12/grayscale-cuts-q2-altcoin-watchlist-adds-more-ai-crypto-names/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">altcoin product strategy</a>. An Aug. 8 review of SEC records lists several proposed registrations at preliminary stages.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">These include products linked to Bittensor, Aave, BNB, NEAR, and Zcash. None had an effective registration status during that review.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Meanwhile, Avalanche and <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2026/07/10/hype-etf-gains-spotlight-as-bitwise-adds-hyperliquid-to-bitw/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Hyperliquid staking products</a> reached a later regulatory milestone. The SEC declared the Avalanche registration effective on March 11. It declared the Hyperliquid registration effective on June 2. Effectiveness alone does not confirm when either fund started trading.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">This varied pipeline makes the Grayscale ETF withdrawals selective rather than companywide. The company may submit new applications for the Cardano, HBAR, or DOT ETFs later. Yet the Aug. 7 documents make no commitment to renewed filings.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Market prices weakened after the news, although the filings do not establish direct causation. ADA traded near $0.196 after falling more than 2% over 24 hours.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">HBAR declined 2.24% to $0.068, while DOT slipped nearly 2% to $0.805. ADA futures open interest rose nearly 1% over four hours to $477.88 million.
