Coinbase is halting trading for five tokens while keeping withdrawals open, meaning affected users can no longer buy or sell the assets on the exchange but can still move them off the platform.

What Coinbase Announced About the Five Tokens

The exchange is suspending trading on five markets, a change that stops order-book activity without locking customer holdings, according to the Coinbase exchange status page. Trading suspension and wallet access are separate functions on Coinbase.
The tokens flagged in Coinbase's status data are IDEX, Loopring (LRC), Omni Network, Pirate Nation and StaFi. The move mirrors Coinbase's earlier decision to end Loopring (LRC) trading on August 7.
The key distinction for holders is between transacting and withdrawing. Buying and selling stop when a market is suspended, but withdrawing an asset to an external wallet or another platform remains available.
What the Change Means for Coinbase Users

Users who hold the five tokens can still withdraw them, so balances are not frozen on the platform. This is the core operational fact separating this action from a full asset lock.

Because trading and withdrawal access are distinct, holders who want to exit a position may need to move the token elsewhere rather than sell it directly on Coinbase once the suspension takes effect.

Coinbase advises checking account notices and timelines inside its own interface before acting. Suspension schedules can shift, and the Coinbase Prime status page tracks related service updates for institutional accounts.

Why Trading Halts Matter Beyond the Five Tokens

A trading suspension typically thins liquidity and can weaken price discovery for the affected assets on that venue, since the exchange's order book no longer matches buyers and sellers. Keeping withdrawals open signals a limited operational change rather than a seizure of funds.

Coinbase has been trimming its market list in recent weeks, including a plan to suspend six crypto trading pairs on August 6 after a market review. The status pages do not attribute the latest halt to any regulatory or legal cause.
