PepeCoin — PEPE, has flashed a signal that could catch the attention of crypto traders. Around 4.54 trillion tokens recently left exchanges in a major supply shift. Large holders also increased their PEPE positions during the same period. The move stands out because PEPE remains roughly 90% below the previous record high. Meanwhile, broader meme coin demand remains relatively subdued.

PEPE Supply Moves Away From Exchanges

On-chain analytics firm Santiment reported the massive PEPE exchange outflow. Around 4.54 trillion PEPE tokens left trading platforms in one day. The withdrawal marked the largest net exchange outflow since November 14, 2024. Such movements can offer useful clues about investor behavior. When tokens leave exchanges, fewer coins remain available for immediate selling. That can reduce short-term selling pressure across the market.

However, exchange outflows do not automatically guarantee a price rally. Investors may move tokens for several reasons beyond long-term accumulation. The latest movement still deserves attention because large holders are also increasing their positions. The timing adds another layer to PEPE's current market setup. The previous major outflow happened during the post-election meme coin rally.

PEPE enjoyed strong speculative demand during that period and later reached a record high. Current conditions look very different from that earlier frenzy. PEPE has traded sideways for roughly two months. The project also lacks a major catalyst capable of attracting fresh speculative demand. This makes the latest exchange movement more notable. PEPE currently trades roughly 90% below the December 2024 record high.

Can Whale Accumulation Push PEPE Higher?

PEPE has already posted modest gains despite limited speculative excitement. The meme coin gained 3.4% over the past week and 4.9% over 30 days. However, PEPE fell 1.64% during the latest 24-hour period. Those figures suggest buyers have gained some ground. However, momentum remains too weak to confirm a sustained breakout. The next major test will involve broader demand across the meme coin sector.

PEPE needs stronger buying pressure to turn whale accumulation into meaningful price momentum. Exchange balances could provide another important signal in the coming weeks. Continued withdrawals would further reduce the supply available for immediate trading. Whale behavior also deserves close attention as market conditions develop. Continued accumulation could strengthen confidence among other market participants. Still, traders should avoid treating whale movements as guaranteed bullish signals.

Large holders can change positions quickly when market conditions shift. Price action must therefore confirm whether current accumulation represents a lasting shift in sentiment. For now, PEPE presents an intriguing mix of declining exchange supply and rising whale exposure. The token remains far below the previous peak, leaving significant room for recovery if demand returns.
