<h3 id="h-key-insights" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Key Insights:</strong></h3><ul class="wp-block-list"><li>BlackRock launched two funds, built especially to serve as GENIUS Act-compliant stablecoin reserves.</li><li>BRSRV is designed to be the first tokenized money market fund that investors can access via stablecoins.</li></ul><p class="wp-block-paragraph">On 3rd August, the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, launched two new products. These are the BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL) and the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle (BRSRV).</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Both funds are specially designed to align with the GENIUS Act, the U.S. stablecoin law passed in 2025, according to BlackRock’s official press release.</p><div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/image-54-1024x742.png" alt="Source: CoinMarketCap (X)" class="wp-image-2409052"><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"> Source: CoinMarketCap (X) </figcaption></figure></div><p class="wp-block-paragraph">BlackRock’s CFO, Martin Small, during the company’s <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BLK/earnings/BLK-Q2-2026-earnings_call-649230.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Q2 2026 earnings call</a>, highlighted what the firm is actually targeting.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">He said: “We already manage $60 billion of reserves for Circle, representing about a quarter of the $300 billion stablecoin market. We see lots of growth ahead in stablecoin, and we want to be the reserve manager of choice.”</p><h2 id="h-explaining-what-each-blackrock-fund-actually-does" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Explaining What Each BlackRock Fund Actually Does</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The two products have distinct roles, but their objectives are similar.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">BSTBL is a tokenized version of an existing BlackRock money market fund. As per <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/article/blackrock-files-tokenized-treasury-funds-sec?utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">a report published on CoinMarketCap</a>, this fund has around $7 billion in assets on the Ethereum blockchain as a tokenized share class. The fund holds cash, short-term U.S. Treasury securities, and overnight repurchase agreements backed by government securities.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The key difference between the existing fund and the BSTBL is that fund shares now exist as ERC-20 tokens, which allows eligible investors to transfer shares between approved wallets on Ethereum. This makes it a blockchain-based version of a fund that is already accessed through traditional financial channels.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">BRSRV is designed for a different role. It is a brand-new fund designed specifically for crypto-native institutional investors rather than traditional ones. The fund automatically reinvests dividends daily, making it suitable for institutions managing stable reserve balances rather than for investors who regularly withdraw funds.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">While BRSRV is available across multiple blockchains, its core feature is that investors can invest in funds using stablecoins, avoiding traditional bank transfers. This allows investors to enter with stablecoins. They can earn yield on U.S. Treasuries with daily reinvestment. They can also withdraw funds back with stablecoins without involving any traditional banking rails.</p><h2 id="h-why-the-genius-act-makes-the-timing-specific" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why the GENIUS Act Makes the Timing Specific</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Both of BlackRock funds are designed to comply with the GENIUS Act. The GENIUS Act created a federal framework for stablecoins in 2025 and defined which assets are eligible to be used as reserves.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">U.S. Treasury securities and overnight repurchase agreements are among those eligible reserves. By designing both funds to meet GENIUS Act requirements, BlackRock is positioning itself as a key reserve option for stablecoin issuers seeking regulated, yield-generating, blockchain-accessible assets.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">BlackRock’s data highlights the scale of opportunity for these funds. According to <a href="https://www.sec.gov/data-research/statistics-data-visualizations/money-market-fund-statistics" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">SEC Money Market Fund data</a>, U.S. money market funds manage more than $8.4 trillion in assets. <a href="https://www.blackrock.com/cash/en-us/about-us/about-us-t3?utm_source=chatgpt.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BlackRock says</a> its Cash Management Group manages approximately $1.073 trillion in global liquidity assets.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The stablecoin market is currently sitting at around $300 billion. Despite its smaller size, it is one of the fastest-growing asset classes in institutional digital finance.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Data from <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">RWA.xyz</a> show that the tokenized RWA market has grown by more than 200% over the past year, reaching over $30 billion. And now BSTBL and BRSRV funds bring tokenized reserve management and stablecoin-based investment opportunities for institutions.</p><h2 id="h-where-blackrock-s-stablecoin-strategy-goes-next" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where BlackRock’s Stablecoin Strategy Goes Next</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">As BlackRock’s 1D chart on TradingView showed, the stock gained 1.90% on August 3, and that same day the company announced two new funds. The firm’s path in the blockchain space is now clear. BUIDL, launched in 2024, proved that tokenized money market funds could operate at scale. BSTBL extends that model by bringing a larger existing fund onto the Ethereum blockchain through tokenized access.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">BRSRV extends that further with a new fund specifically designed for stablecoin-based institutional investors. It offers digital asset operations, multi-chain access, and daily reinvestment.
