Shiba Inu enters August with renewed momentum after a strong recovery during the final week of July. Buyers drove SHIB sharply higher before sellers rejected the rally near a key resistance level. Even so, the recent move has shifted attention back toward the popular meme coin. Several ecosystem upgrades remain on the horizon, while improving technical indicators suggest market sentiment has started to recover. As SHIB celebrates six years since launch, August could become one of the most important months for the token in 2026.

Shiba Inu climbed 28% last week before sellers stopped the rally at $0.00000548. Although profit-taking pushed the price lower, SHIB continues trading above a critical support level near $0.00000446. That area now represents the line between another recovery attempt and a deeper decline. Investors will closely monitor whether buyers can defend that zone throughout August.

The biggest catalyst remains the delayed Shibarium privacy upgrade. Developers continue building the feature alongside cryptography company Zama using fully homomorphic encryption, or FHE. The rollout originally targeted the second quarter of 2026, but developers have yet to announce an official release. That delay places August firmly in focus, since any update could quickly improve market sentiment and encourage fresh buying activity.

Several other ecosystem projects also remain under development. The team continues working on the long-awaited Shiba Eternity relaunch while advancing the SHIB Metaverse project. Another major milestone involves LEASH v2, which plans to introduce a fixed token supply alongside DAO governance. Those developments could strengthen confidence across the broader Shiba Inu ecosystem once launch dates become clearer.

The weekly chart still reflects the broader downtrend that has dominated most of 2026. Price continues trading within the lower half of the VolumeGram Bands, while every recovery has faced rejection near the indicator's midpoint. Similar reversals appeared during January, May, and now July, showing that sellers continue defending higher price levels whenever bullish momentum accelerates.

Last week's rally produced the strongest weekly trading volume in several months, highlighting renewed buying interest. However, the current weekly candle has already erased around 13% of those gains. Sellers successfully defended the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement level at $0.00000548, the same area that became resistance following June's sharp decline.

The next major obstacle sits near the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement around $0.00000636, where another rejection occurred earlier this year. Momentum indicators, however, paint a more encouraging picture. The weekly Relative Strength Index recently broke above a descending trendline that had limited momentum since the March 2024 peak.
