Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) has used the completion of its SLICE testnet token distribution to explain the liquidity model at the heart of its Launchpad platform. Rather than directing token sale proceeds to the issuing project, the network takes a different approach. Instead of being taken by the issuing project, the Pi proceeds from a token launch go to a liquidity pool with the ecosystem token, which bootstraps a healthy liquidity foundation from the start.

For the SLICE experiment, that means the pool is seeded with SLICE paired against Test Pi from the moment the launch closes. The structure is designed to ensure tokens have real trading depth available immediately, rather than entering a thin or illiquid market after distribution.

From June 11 to June 28, over 242,000 participating Pioneers committed a total of 15.92 million Test Pi toward token acquisition for 10 million SLICE test tokens.SLICE is tied to the game Slice of Pi, giving Pi a live application to test its engagement bonus feature. The team has confirmed that SLICE will remain on Testnet and will never transfer to Mainnet.

The SLICE launch also puts Pi's hybrid DEX architecture on display. At its core, the Pi DEX operates using liquidity pools, enabling users to swap tokens instantly at market-driven prices, in a mechanism similar to automated market maker models used across decentralized finance platforms.Pi Network also introduces an additional layer through limit orders, allowing users to specify a desired price at which they are willing to buy or sell a token.

Swap prices are determined by the balances held inside the liquidity pool, a standard AMM pricing approach. The Launchpad interface shows individual allocation details, the launch and effective token prices, access to the SLICE liquidity pool, and a chart tracking changes in the SLICE price relative to Test Pi.

The purpose of these test token launches is to introduce Pioneers to the new ecosystem token mechanics and to build practical financial literacy around liquidity pools, swaps, and automated token pricing.Testing also allows Pi to collect data and Pioneer feedback to help improve and refine the Launchpad design for the Mainnet version.
