The agreement stipulates that Databricks will migrate its internal operational systems and data analytics infrastructure to Azure Databricks. Additionally, the company will expand deployment of Azure Cobalt, Microsoft’s proprietary Arm-based silicon solution.
<a href="https://coincentral.com/databricks-secures-3-billion-from-coatue-as-ai-revenue-hits-1-7-billion-run-rate/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Databricks</a> is currently leveraging Azure Cobalt 100 processors. The transition to Cobalt 200 is planned, which Microsoft claims delivers up to 50% enhanced performance while incorporating default memory encryption capabilities.
This hardware investment represents a substantial commitment and demonstrates strong belief in Microsoft’s technological infrastructure development.
The partnership expansion will bring Databricks capabilities more deeply into Microsoft’s entire product portfolio, spanning Microsoft 365, Teams, Copilot, Power BI, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Foundry.
