South Korea’s Mirae Asset has increased its ownership of cryptocurrency exchange Korbit to 97.15%, strengthening its presence in the country’s regulated digital asset market. <a href="https://www.korbit.co.kr/notice/detail/?noticeId=4I2XTU3WIlGniG3mdcSuaF" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">According to Korbit</a>, Mirae Asset Consulting became the exchange’s largest shareholder after completing the required regulatory procedures for the controlling acquisition. 
Mirae Asset Consulting, an affiliate of Mirae Asset Financial Group, also filed a revised regulatory disclosure to acquire additional Korbit shares worth about $5.32 million. The purchase will increase its ownership from 92.06% to 97.15%, with local <a href="https://www.yna.co.kr/view/AKR20260723043100002" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">reports</a> indicating the transaction is expected to close on Friday. 
Korbit confirmed that the ownership change will not affect its operating entity, customer deposits, or personal data management. Consequently, existing users will continue accessing the platform under the same operational framework.

Upbit remained the country’s dominant exchange, recording approximately $224.2 million in trading volume over the same period.
