Dubai

HashKey MENA has received approval from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) to launch Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures, tying a regulatory green light in the emirate directly to a new regulated derivatives offering.
The approval names Dubai's VARA as the regulator granting the clearance, with HashKey MENA as the entity receiving it. HashKey MENA is listed in VARA's public register of licensed virtual asset service providers. The clearance is scoped to a specific product launch rather than a broad expansion of services. That distinction matters because VARA licences in Dubai are activity-specific, appearing in the authority's public register that records which firms are permitted to operate in the emirate. The approval enables HashKey MENA to offer two products: Bitcoin perpetual futures and Ethereum perpetual futures. Both are named explicitly as the core of the launch. Perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track an underlying asset's price without a fixed expiry date, a structure HashKey describes in its own perpetual contracts learning center. This is distinct from spot trading, where users buy and hold the underlying tokens directly. The practical outcome of the approval is product availability. The regulatory clearance is what allows the BTC and ETH contracts to be offered to eligible users under Dubai's oversight, linking the licence to what customers can actually trade.

Why the approval matters for Dubai's digital-asset market

Dubai is central to the story because the approval originates from its regulator. VARA is the emirate-level authority whose register determines which virtual asset activities a firm can conduct locally, making its sign-off the event that gives the launch market significance.
The move also reinforces Dubai's positioning as a hub for regulated crypto activity in the wider MENA region, a market that has drawn expanding interest from digital-asset firms including DeFi Technologies' push into the region. HashKey MENA's registration adds a named, regulator-approved provider of crypto derivatives to that landscape.
For readers, the development is worth watching as an indicator of how regulated derivatives products roll out under VARA's framework. The relevant detail to track is whether the BTC and ETH perpetual contracts go live as scoped in the approval, and how the offering is reflected in the authority's public register over time.
