Shares of Bloom Energy (BE) declined 7.2% during Monday’s morning session, sliding to $199.49, following the release of a research note from TD Cowen that maintained its Hold rating alongside a $235 price objective.

The analyst’s assessment indicated the shares appear appropriately priced under current market conditions. TD Cowen highlighted postponements affecting two critical data center initiatives as primary areas of concern for investors.
The initiatives in question include Oracle’s Project Jupiter and a contracted arrangement with AEP. Both carry implementation uncertainties that may negatively affect revenue projections for 2027 and 2028.
Oracle’s ambitious Project Jupiter has encountered two regulatory denials for air quality permits in New Mexico. Additionally, New York State has implemented a comprehensive ban on new data center development, creating further complications.
TD Cowen recognized several favorable developments. Prospective contract awards in Texas and Spain were identified as short-term growth catalysts, though these factors proved insufficient to alter the firm’s conservative stance.
The equity has now retreated roughly 39% from its peak valuation of $351.28, established in late June. This represents a significant correction over a relatively brief timeframe.

Critical Report Compounds Investor Concerns

In early July, Hunterbrook Media released an investigative report challenging aspects of Bloom Energy’s supplier relationships and financial accounting methods. The publication undermined market confidence in the company’s artificial intelligence power infrastructure narrative.
BMO Capital launched coverage with a Hold recommendation on July 17, contributing to an increasingly skeptical analyst community.
Market dynamics didn’t contribute to Monday’s selloff. The S&P 500 advanced 0.2% while the Nasdaq climbed 0.4%, indicating Bloom’s weakness was isolated to company-specific factors.
Bloom Energy currently commands a price-to-book multiple exceeding 66x. This lofty valuation is creating apprehension among shareholders, particularly given the newly disclosed execution challenges.
Institutional positioning has shown divergent trends. Trivest Advisors reduced its holdings by 12.9% during the first quarter, divesting 145,000 shares while retaining 980,000 valued at approximately $132.8 million. The position still represents 9.6% of Trivest’s total portfolio.

Director-Level Share Disposals Continue

Board member John T. Chambers disposed of 55,000 shares at $297.69 on May 28, generating proceeds exceeding $16.3 million. Director Mary K. Bush liquidated 25,000 shares at $266.96 on May 7, realizing approximately $6.7 million.
Collectively, company insiders have divested 153,617 shares valued at roughly $44 million during the previous three-month period.
Notwithstanding the insider selling activity, Bloom Energy delivered impressive first-quarter results. The firm reported earnings per share of $0.44, significantly exceeding the $0.12 analyst consensus, alongside revenue of $751.05 million, representing 130.4% year-over-year growth.
Management subsequently elevated its fiscal 2026 guidance to $1.85–$2.25 per share based on that performance.
Second-quarter 2026 financial results are scheduled for release on July 28. Market participants will scrutinize any commentary regarding progress on the Oracle and AEP project timelines.
