Investment bank Benchmark has sharply reduced its price target for Exodus Movement Inc. (EXOD), the publicly traded company behind the cryptocurrency wallet, following a significant workforce reduction. The new target, nearly half the previous figure, reflects the firm’s strategic pivot toward a full-stack stablecoin payments infrastructure business.

Price Target Revision and Workforce Reduction

Benchmark analysts lowered their price target on EXOD to $XX from $XX, while reiterating a buy rating. The revision comes just days after Exodus announced it was cutting 25% of its staff, a move the company described as a restructuring to realign resources toward its new strategic direction. The layoffs affected approximately 40 employees, according to public reports.

Strategic Shift to Stablecoin Payments

The restructuring is intended to fund Exodus’s transition from a primarily consumer-focused cryptocurrency wallet provider to a broader payments infrastructure company centered on stablecoins. This pivot places Exodus in direct competition with established fintech and blockchain firms seeking to capture a share of the growing stablecoin transaction market, which has seen increased adoption for remittances, cross-border payments, and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.

Why This Matters for Investors

Benchmark’s decision to maintain a buy rating despite the drastic price target cut signals confidence in the company’s long-term strategy, even as it faces near-term execution risks. The move highlights the volatility and high-stakes nature of the crypto-finance sector, where companies often must restructure rapidly to stay competitive. For Exodus shareholders, the reduced price target reflects a more conservative near-term valuation, while the buy rating suggests potential upside if the stablecoin pivot succeeds.

Conclusion

Benchmark’s revised price target for Exodus underscores the challenges and opportunities facing crypto-native companies as they adapt to a shifting regulatory and market landscape. While the layoffs and price target reduction signal near-term headwinds, the maintained buy rating suggests that analysts see the company’s strategic pivot as a necessary step toward long-term growth in the stablecoin payments ecosystem.
