According to reporting from Nikkei Asia, the logistics company plans to extend JPYC payment options to approximately 2,300 business partners, establishing itself as the pioneering major corporation in Japan to adopt the stablecoin at this scale.

JPYC holds the distinction of being Japan’s first officially registered yen-pegged stablecoin. The digital currency eliminates transaction fees entirely, enabling payment processing that’s both faster and more frequent compared to conventional banking systems.

Reports indicate that AZ-COM Maruwa is also exploring a strategic alliance with JPYC Inc., potentially accompanied by an investment exceeding 1 billion yen, which translates to approximately $6.2 million.

The Appeal of Stablecoins for Transportation Companies

The Japanese logistics sector is grappling with an acute labor shortage. The combination of an aging driver population and more stringent overtime regulations for truckers has complicated efforts by companies to maintain and recruit contractors.

Through the implementation of rapid digital compensation via JPYC, AZ-COM Maruwa aims to position itself as a more appealing choice for freelance drivers and commercial partners.

“We will continue to advance the integration of logistics and commercial payment flows with JPYC,” said Noritaka Okabe, founder and CEO of JPYC Inc.

JPYC’s Growing Presence in the Japanese Market

Since its October launch, JPYC has experienced consistent growth. The stablecoin’s onchain circulation has now surpassed 2 billion yen, equivalent to roughly $12.3 million.

Earlier in the month, Lawson, the country’s third-largest convenience store chain, revealed a trial program allowing customers to complete purchases with JPYC.

Metaplanet Ventures, the investment division of bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet, committed 400 million yen to JPYC Inc.’s Series B funding round in March.

Established financial institutions are also entering the stablecoin arena. SBI Group introduced JPYSC in June, marketing it as Japan’s first yen stablecoin backed by a trust bank.

Three of Japan’s banking giants — MUFG, SMBC, and Mizuho — revealed intentions last month to initiate live commercial transactions utilizing a collaboratively issued stablecoin during the 2026 fiscal year.

The AZ-COM Maruwa agreement would signify a significant evolution for JPYC, transitioning from consumer and investment applications into large-scale business-to-contractor compensation systems.

Should the investment and strategic partnership materialize, it would strengthen JPYC Inc.’s relationship with a notable mid-tier Japanese logistics company and could establish a framework for comparable arrangements throughout the industry.
