Allbridge Core paused its cross-chain bridge following a reported $1.65 million exploit, halting transfers while the team investigates how attackers drained funds from the protocol.

The pause was enacted after the exploit came to light, with the Allbridge team suspending bridge functionality as a protective measure. Details of the incident were reported by BeInCrypto, which covered the attack on the cross-chain protocol.
What we can confirm about the Allbridge Core exploit

The confirmed facts are narrow: the bridge was paused, and the exploit involved a reported loss in the region of $1.65 million. The precise attack path, the full scope of affected assets, and any recovery figures remain under investigation. For related coverage, see Bitcoin gets a quantum recovery tool, but not for Satoshi's 1.1 million coins.

Bridge paused: Allbridge Core suspended cross-chain transfers after the exploit.

Reported loss: The incident is estimated at roughly $1.65 million.

User impact: Transfers cannot be processed while the pause remains in place.

Readers should treat the loss figure as a reported estimate rather than a finalized accounting, since the research available does not include an audited or on-chain-verified total.
How the pause affects bridge users

While the bridge is paused, users cannot initiate or complete cross-chain transfers through Allbridge Core. Any transaction that depends on the bridge routing assets between chains is effectively on hold until the team restores service.

The available reporting does not specify the handling of pending transfers or whether funds outside the bridge contracts were touched. Until Allbridge publishes explicit guidance, users should avoid assuming that in-flight transactions will settle normally.

Bridge exploits have remained one of the most persistent risks in decentralized finance, a concern that sits alongside broader institutional moves such as Visa's stablecoin settlement platform as the industry weighs custody and cross-chain security.

What comes next after the pause

The immediate response, pausing the bridge, is consistent with a protocol containing an active exploit before assessing damage. The next markers to watch are an incident post-mortem, confirmation of the exact amount lost, and any statement on remediation or reimbursement.

Resumption of the bridge will likely depend on the team identifying and closing the vulnerability that was exploited. No relaunch timeline has been disclosed in the material reviewed.

Security incidents like this continue to shape how the wider market thinks about self-custody and protocol risk, themes echoed in legislative efforts such as New Hampshire's HB 639 self-custody bill. For Allbridge users, the most important updates now are the project's own communications confirming the loss total, the fix, and the conditions for reopening the bridge.
