<p>Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) have moved from a niche experiment to one of the more closely watched corners of crypto, and the data behind them is now available programmatically.</p><p>The first release brings 7,937 tokenized real-world assets onto the CoinMarketCap Pro API. They are accessible through a dedicated family of endpoints covering tokenized representations of traditional financial instruments alongside the metadata, issuers, and underlying tokens that describe them.</p><p>The first batch is live now, with the market-data endpoints following in the next release.</p><h2 id="what-the-rwa-dataset-covers">What the RWA Dataset Covers</h2><p>RWAs on the Pro API represent tokenized versions of traditional instruments: equities such as Nvidia (NVDA), commodities such as gold, currencies, government securities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and real estate. Each RWA asset carries its own static metadata, including company or nominal fields and an "About" block with a description, logo, and website. It also includes the underlying tokens that represent the asset on-chain and the markets where those tokens trade.</p><p>Every RWA asset uses a new stable identifier called rwa_id, which sits in a separate namespace from the existing crypto_id used for cryptocurrencies. Lookups also accept an asset slug or a symbol, so a ticker alone (for example, symbol=NVDA) resolves to the right asset. RWA assets are ranked independently through rwa_rank, a market-cap rank specific to the RWA universe rather than the broader crypto cmc_rank.</p><h2 id="the-endpoints-available-now">The Endpoints Available Now</h2><p>Following the pattern used elsewhere in the Pro API, static metadata and market data are split across separate endpoints so each can follow its own update and caching rules. Four endpoints are available in this first release.</p><p>The RWA ID map (GET /v5/real-world-assets/map) is a lightweight lookup that resolves an asset to its rwa_id before calling the heavier endpoints. It carries no market data and consumes no credits. It is available from the Basic plan.</p><p>The RWA info endpoint (GET /v5/real-world-assets/info) returns static metadata for one or more assets. This includes nominal and company fields, plus the descriptive "About" block. For equities, additional fields include employee count, founding date, primary exchange, industry, and SEC CIK number. For non-equity types, such as commodities, those fields are returned as null rather than zero. It is available from the Basic plan.</p><p>The RWA issuers list (GET /v5/real-world-assets/issuers/list) returns a paginated list of the token issuers CoinMarketCap tracks for RWAs, such as Backed Finance, Paxos, and Backpack. Each entry includes the number of linked tokens. The companion single-issuer endpoint (GET /v5/real-world-assets/issuers) returns one issuer by its ID together with the full list of tokens it has issued. Both are available from the Basic plan.</p><p>Across the family, responses follow the standard CoinMarketCap envelope: a data object paired with a status object, list arrays nested under keys such as data.rwa_assets, and time fields expressed as ISO 8601 strings. Error responses return data: null with a non-zero error_code, so existing Pro API error handling carries over without changes.</p><h2 id="what-comes-next">What Comes Next</h2><p>The next release adds the market-data side of the family. This includes the RWA asset list with tokenized aggregate quotes and the underlying token list. It also includes the market-pairs endpoint that lists active markets for an asset's tokens, and currency conversion through convert. A historical time-series endpoint for tokenized price, market cap, and volume is planned for a later phase.</p><p>Developers can find the naming, parameters, and response shapes for each endpoint in the Pro API reference documentation. The endpoints correspond to the public data shown on CoinMarketCap's Real-World Assets pages. The map endpoint, in particular, exposes identifier data that is available only through the API.</p><p>For teams building portfolio trackers, analytics dashboards, or research tools that connect tokenized assets with their traditional counterparts, the RWA family offers a structured way to resolve identifiers, pull metadata, and trace tokens back to their issuers through a single API.</p>
