South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has issued guidance for users seeking to apply to the Humanity (H) foundation’s claim portal following a recent security incident. The portal allows affected users to request compensation or recovery of tokens, with options for both automatic and manual claims.

Claim portal application process

Users who are not eligible for an automatic airdrop can submit a direct claim through the Humanity foundation’s portal. To do so, applicants must attach supporting documents, such as transaction histories, to verify their holdings and eligibility. Bithumb emphasized that the process is straightforward but requires careful attention to detail to avoid errors.

Proxy application option for users

For users who face difficulties applying themselves, Bithumb is in discussions with the Humanity foundation to arrange a proxy application process. This option is designed to assist members who may lack technical expertise or access to the portal. The exchange is currently accepting preliminary consent for these proxy applications until 8:00 a.m. UTC on August 10. Users who wish to use this service must submit their consent before the deadline.

Implications for affected users

This development is significant for Bithumb users who held Humanity (H) tokens during the security incident. The claim portal represents a key step in recovering assets, and the proxy option broadens access for less tech-savvy investors. Bithumb’s proactive communication aims to reduce confusion and ensure that all eligible users can participate in the claims process.

Conclusion

Bithumb’s guidance on the Humanity (H) claim portal underscores the exchange’s commitment to user support after a security breach. With both direct and proxy application options available, affected users have clear pathways to seek compensation. The deadline for proxy consent is August 10, and Bithumb continues to coordinate with the foundation to streamline the process.
