Robinhood has announced a Wall Street-focused Layer-2 blockchain chain, pairing its mainnet launch with tokenized stock offerings and what it calls "agentic trading" as part of a broader global expansion push.

What Robinhood Announced About Its Layer-2 Chain

The company's official newsroom announcement frames the Robinhood Chain mainnet as a vehicle for global expansion, stock tokens, and AI-driven agentic trading. The chain is positioned as a Layer-2 scaling solution, and it appears on L2Beat's project tracker as an active scaling project.

The tokenized stock angle is central to the announcement. Robinhood is not launching a generic Layer-2 for DeFi or memecoins; the framing ties the chain directly to bringing equity exposure onchain, a move that aligns with the company's history of expanding into tokenized stocks and 24/7 trading in Europe.
Why This Matters for Tokenized Equities

Robinhood is not alone in pursuing onchain stock exposure. Kraken recently celebrated reaching 100 xStocks listings, signaling that tokenized equities are becoming a competitive battleground among major crypto-native platforms. Robinhood pairing a dedicated chain with its stock token ambitions suggests the company views infrastructure ownership as a strategic advantage in this race.

The move also fits a broader pattern for Robinhood, which has been expanding crypto trading into the UK and growing its trading revenue through prediction markets. A proprietary Layer-2 gives the company more control over transaction costs, settlement speed, and the user experience for onchain stock trading.

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev has previously discussed the company's blockchain ambitions publicly, with earlier comments positioning the Robinhood blockchain in a lighter context. The mainnet launch marks a more serious infrastructure commitment.

What Is Confirmed and What Remains Unclear

The announcement confirms that Robinhood Chain has reached mainnet, that tokenized stocks are part of the product roadmap, and that the company views the chain as integral to its global expansion. Technical documentation for connecting to the chain is already live.

What remains thin is everything beyond the announcement itself. No onchain usage metrics, total value locked figures, or independent technical assessments were available at the time of writing. Market reaction data and expert commentary on the launch are similarly absent from the current record.

Readers tracking this story should watch for ecosystem access details, early adoption metrics on L2Beat, and whether tokenized stock trading goes live with meaningful volume. Until those data points materialize, the launch is best understood as a strategic signal rather than a proven product.
