In an unfolding scenario within the cryptocurrency sphere, over $1.4 billion in tokens is scheduled to be released between January 26 and February 2, 2026. A notable portion, amounting to $154.95 million, will result from cliff unlocks, where a hefty amount of tokens enters circulation at once rather than through a phased approach.

What’s Happening with Sui’s Token Unlock?

Sui is poised for the week’s most substantial token release, with $62.68 million in assets slated to become available. Despite the considerable sum, the event will only increase the circulating supply by 1.14%, which could imply limited repercussions on Sui’s market price. This strategy reflects Sui’s carefully crafted long-term vesting protocol, ensuring a gradual introduction of tokens into the market environment.

Can Medium-Sized Token Releases Cause Market Ripples?

No, particularly when compared in scale. Beyond Sui, other notable projects will see moderate unlocks. EigenCloud plans to release tokens worth $11.82 million, translating to 6.71% of its total supply. Remarkably, Sign will unlock $11.72 million, a move set to constitute a substantial 17.61% of its overall supply, making its relative impact noteworthy. Kamino and Jupiter will introduce $10.51 million and $10.15 million respectively, translating to smaller fractions of their total supplies.

In addition, the smaller players in this week’s line-up include Optimism, releasing $9.15 million or 1.62% of its total supply. Ethena’s unlock will slightly adjust its supply by 0.56% with a $6.73 million release. Sahara AI, however, plans a more impactful 8.30% increase with a $5.54 million unlock, despite the relatively modest dollar figure compared to others. ZetaChain and Gunz will also make an entrance into the circulating supply with $3.47 million and $2.63 million respectively, each adding a moderate increase to market availability.

Several key insights emerge from this week’s token strategies:

The impact of token unlocks heavily depends on the proportion of the total supply affected.

Cliff unlocks scheduled this week highlight a focus on immediate market shifts.

Large monetary values, such as Sui’s, do not always correlate with immediate selling pressure.

The main takeaway is the critical role of the proportion of newly added supply relative to existing amounts. Even though Sui’s release is notable, analysts believe the modest supply increase will minimize possible market disruptions. In contrast, smaller projects like Sign and Sahara AI could see more pronounced effects. Heightened alertness is advised, but these developments alone are not strong indicators for selling assets.
