Jared Kushner alongside U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff made the journey to Qatar for discussions the White House characterized as “high level” negotiations. However, Iranian authorities and Qatari hosts confirmed Tehran would exclusively communicate through intermediaries rather than engaging American delegates directly.
This approach effectively eliminated expectations of a rapid diplomatic resolution within the current 60-day negotiation timeline established between the two nations.

The Strait of Hormuz remains central to ongoing tensions. This critical maritime passage handles a substantial portion of global petroleum shipments, yet questions about its governance persist.
Iranian officials have announced intentions to supervise maritime operations through the strategic waterway. <a href="https://coincentral.com/vance-quietly-doubled-his-bitcoin-bet-heres-what-his-latest-filing-shows/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">U.S. Vice President JD Vance</a> countered these claims, asserting Tehran would be prevented from imposing fees on vessels traversing the passage.
Maritime activity through the strait has begun showing improvement. Information from Kpler indicated roughly 24 commodity carriers, encompassing crude oil and liquefied natural gas tankers, navigated through on Monday, with activity levels maintaining consistency into Tuesday.

Vandana Hari, an oil market analyst at Vanda Insights, warned that conditions remain volatile. “Hormuz continues to reopen but it’s patchy, unpredictable, and not fully transparent,” she said.

The April-to-June period proved exceptionally challenging for petroleum prices. Brent experienced a decline of roughly $45 per barrel, representing its most significant quarterly loss since the 2008 financial crisis. WTI futures decreased approximately $31 during the identical timeframe, marking their steepest quarterly decline since the 2020 pandemic.
Brent additionally plunged 21% throughout June exclusively, following a 19% decrease in May. Both months represented the most substantial monthly contractions since March 2020.
These declines followed a dramatic upward surge earlier in the year. Brent skyrocketed roughly 94% in the opening quarter following the outbreak of regional hostilities, before sharply reversing as ceasefire developments reduced supply concerns.
Market analysts have now reduced their 2026 <a href="https://coincentral.com/morgan-stanley-cuts-oil-price-forecast-as-strait-of-hormuz-traffic-recovers/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">oil price forecasts</a> for the first occasion since the Iranian conflict commenced, according to a Reuters survey released Wednesday.
Regarding supply dynamics, American crude output achieved a record 13.93 million barrels daily in April. U.S. petroleum stockpiles also decreased by 6.1 million barrels during the week concluded June 26, based on American Petroleum Institute figures.
Traders are now monitoring further developments from the Doha negotiations and forthcoming official U.S. inventory reports to determine the next direction for energy prices.
