Binance Futures is delisting IP perpetual contracts, requiring traders with open positions to act before the removal takes effect. The change applies to the futures venue specifically, not the token's spot market availability.

TLDR: KEY POINTS

Binance Futures is removing the IP perpetual contract from its derivatives platform.

The delisting applies to futures only; spot trading availability is a separate matter.

Traders with open positions should review margin levels and close or reduce exposure before the cutoff.

What Binance Futures Is Changing for IP

The exchange disclosed the delisting through its official futures announcements page, which serves as the primary channel for contract changes. The action targets IP's perpetual futures trading pair, removing leveraged access on the world's largest crypto exchange by volume. For related coverage, see Kalshi to Launch Cryptocurrency Futures Trading.

A futures delisting is distinct from a full token removal. The underlying IP asset may still trade on Binance's spot market or on other exchanges. Only the derivatives contract is being retired. For related coverage, see Wallet Withdraws 11,142 ETH From Binance: What the Outflow Suggests.

Similar exchange-level removals have occurred on other platforms recently. Bybit delisted several tokens including AMI, BDXN, ONE, SIS, XEM, and INSP from its spot market, reflecting a broader pattern of exchanges pruning low-activity contracts. For related coverage, see Binance Lists RE on Spot Market, Expanding Trading Access.

Timeline and Trading Impact to Watch

Traders holding open IP futures positions should check the specific delisting date and time listed on Binance's announcement. Futures delistings typically follow a structured process: new order placement is disabled first, then existing positions are settled or force-closed at a reference price. For related coverage, see Bybit Delists EAT, KILO, ZEX, MVL, SYND, ZRC and PUFF From Spot Market.

Open limit orders that remain unfilled by the cutoff are generally canceled automatically. However, relying on that carries risk if market conditions shift before cancellation occurs.

Margin and liquidation mechanics remain active until the contract is formally removed. Traders using high leverage on IP futures face the same liquidation rules during the wind-down period, and reduced liquidity as the delisting date approaches can widen spreads and increase slippage.

Why the Delisting Matters for Market Participants

Futures contract delistings typically reflect declining trading volume, open interest, or liquidity on that specific pair. Exchanges periodically review contract performance and remove instruments that no longer meet activity thresholds, as seen when Binance listed RE on its spot market while simultaneously managing its derivatives catalog.

The removal reduces the number of venues where traders can take leveraged directional bets on IP. For short sellers in particular, losing a major futures venue limits hedging and speculative options. IP's market profile on remaining exchanges will determine how much liquidity shifts elsewhere.

This action should not be read as a fundamental judgment on the IP protocol itself. Contract removals are a routine part of exchange operations, reflecting trading activity metrics on Binance's derivatives platform rather than an assessment of the asset's technology or viability. Traders affected by the change should consult Binance's futures announcements page for the exact timeline and settlement terms before the contract is removed.
