Ethra Ship, a digital maritime technologies company, today launched a RWA protocol for maritime capital markets. The two-layer blockchain ecosystem connects crypto and institutional investors to operating maritime assets, and is backed by Ethra Invest, which has been building its maritime investments and operations since 2021.
The protocol is the digital infrastructure built on top of that existing business. The company has been acquiring, managing, and commercially operating a portfolio of dry bulk vessels for over four years, generating real-time Charter Equivalent (TCE) revenue, a vessel's average daily revenue, building operational infrastructure, and establishing a track record that most tokenization projects have never had. The Ethra Ship Protocol is the digital layer built on top of that foundation.
Maritime shipping assets have historically been accessible only to institutional capital with its high minimums, limited transparency, and no on-chain infrastructure. The Ethra Ship Protocol opens the asset class to the broader public through a two-tier architecture: a governance layer open to any participant, and a regulated RWA investment layer for eligible investors seeking direct exposure to operating vessel portfolios via structured SPVs.

Tokenization only works when there is a real business underneath it," said Saeed Al-Marri, CEO of Ethra. "We bring four years of vessel operations, live charter revenue, and operational data to the protocol from day one, setting the standard maritime RWAs should be held to.

The first tier in the protocol, the $SHIP token, is a utility and governance token open to any participant worldwide. $SHIP holders will be able to stake for access to real-time fleet performance data through Ethra’s Fleet Visibility Dashboard, and participate in onchain governance as the protocol matures.
The second tier is a regulated Real World Asset investment layer, accessible to KYC/AML-verified and eligible investors, providing direct exposure to Ethra Ship’s vessel portfolio via structured Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) backed by operating maritime assets.

“Ethra Ship Protocol gives both Web3 and traditional investors a structured way to engage with an asset class that we have been operating and investing in since 2021,” said Emad Shahin, COO of Ethra. “The infrastructure exists around our track record in the maritime sector, giving participants confidence that we have experience operating a fleet of revenue-producing ships.”

The launch marks the first step in a multi-phase roadmap. Ethra Ship plans to progressively expand the protocol's capabilities across data access, staking, and institutional participation, with the long-term goal of bringing vessel ownership itself onchain. Development milestones will be announced as they are completed, across Ethra Ship's communication channels.
Ethra Ship is registered as ETHRA Digital Maritime Technologies Ltd and operates in the GCC region with an international operational footprint. The project’s whitepaper and live documentation are available at docs.ethraship.com.
About Ethra Ship
Ethra Ship (ETHRA Digital Maritime Technologies Ltd) is a maritime investment and asset management company, and the developer of the Ethra Ship Protocol, a blockchain ecosystem bridging crypto-native participation with regulated real-world dry bulk shipping assets. Founded in 2026, Ethra Ship inverts the typical RWA tokenization model by building on Ethra Invest’s four years of operational experience before issuing any digital instrument. Ethra Ship Protocol’s two-tier architecture separates a governance and utility token ($SHIP) from a regulated investment layer accessible to eligible investors via structured SPVs. Ethra Invest, the company behind Ethra Ship, is a premier investment firm involved in maritime assets since it was founded in 2021.
