Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has defended the use of AI-generated influencers, arguing that artificial intelligence will become essential for managing and growing large blockchain communities.
According to Hoskinson, criticism emerged after the Input Output (IO) X account shared content featuring an AI-generated influencer developed by the Midnight City team. He explained that the experiment was conducted to showcase emerging AI capabilities and explore how the technology could support future ecosystem development.
While some community members reacted negatively to the post, Hoskinson maintained that understanding and testing AI tools remains important as the industry evolves. He noted that the experiment forms part of broader research taking place within Midnight City, an interactive simulation platform being built for the Midnight Network.
The platform models a digital society where autonomous AI agents work, trade, and generate economic activity. Additionally, users can observe transactions through public, auditor, and regulatory perspectives, creating a testing environment for various real-world scenarios.

Hoskinson Says AI Will Shape Future Community Engagement

According to Hoskinson, one of the biggest challenges facing blockchain ecosystems is communicating effectively with rapidly growing communities. Traditional communication teams often struggle to scale alongside expanding user bases.
Consequently, he believes AI agents will become increasingly important for organizing information and distributing updates. Hoskinson said these systems could help communities stay informed while reducing the operational burden on project teams.
He pointed to OpenClaw, an AI agent platform, as one of the fastest-growing open-source projects. The growth of such initiatives, he explained, demonstrates the increasing demand for AI-powered solutions across digital networks.
Moreover, Hoskinson stated that Midnight City is actively exploring how AI can assist with broadcasting information and improving engagement. He added that the team continues to evaluate emerging technologies that could make digital interactions more realistic and efficient.

AI Integration Extends Beyond Community Management

Beyond communication, Hoskinson outlined several areas where AI could contribute to the Midnight ecosystem. He specifically referenced agentic trading capabilities and affiliate-based relationships as potential features that could help expand adoption.
Additionally, he revealed that Midnight City intends to integrate major AI standards as development progresses. This approach allows developers to test new technologies while identifying practical use cases within decentralized environments.
Hoskinson stressed that experimentation remains a core part of the project’s strategy. According to him, Midnight City has become one of the most important initiatives under development and will continue exploring how AI can support future growth.
He added that the team intends to keep evaluating new tools and frameworks as the technology matures. As a result, AI is expected to remain a central component of Midnight City’s long-term roadmap.

Conclusion

Hoskinson’s remarks highlight Cardano’s growing commitment to artificial intelligence as a tool for communication, automation, and ecosystem expansion. Despite criticism surrounding the recent AI influencer experiment, the Midnight City team appears determined to continue testing AI-driven solutions as development moves forward.
