Pharos Network (PROS), a finance-focused Layer 1 blockchain, has expanded payment options for its AI Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, now accepting both PROS tokens and USDC. The move, announced via the project’s official X account, aims to streamline access for developers and AI agents utilizing the platform’s advanced models.

Platform Integration and Discounts

The MaaS platform, developed in collaboration with ZAN—an infrastructure provider tailored for AI agents—incorporates a built-in x402 protocol designed specifically for automated AI agent payments. Users who choose to pay subscription fees with PROS tokens will receive a 20% discount on their monthly costs, providing a tangible incentive for holding and using the native token.

Pharos Network stated that the integration is intended to diversify the utility of PROS while offering developers in its ecosystem more cost-effective access to leading AI models. This move aligns with broader industry trends where blockchain networks are increasingly blending decentralized finance with artificial intelligence services.

Broader Implications for AI and Blockchain

The addition of USDC, a widely used stablecoin, also lowers the barrier for developers who prefer to avoid volatile cryptocurrency exposure when paying for recurring services. By supporting both a native token and a stablecoin, Pharos Network is catering to a wider range of payment preferences within its developer community.

This development comes as the intersection of AI and blockchain continues to attract attention, with projects seeking to create seamless, automated payment rails for AI agents that can execute transactions independently. The x402 protocol embedded in the MaaS platform is a notable technical feature, as it enables machine-to-machine payments without human intervention, potentially unlocking new use cases in decentralized AI marketplaces.

What This Means for Developers

For developers building on Pharos Network, the expanded payment options reduce friction and operational costs. The 20% discount for PROS payments may encourage greater adoption of the token, while the USDC option provides stability for budgeting. The platform’s focus on AI agent-friendly infrastructure positions it to serve a growing niche in the crypto ecosystem.

Conclusion

Pharos Network’s decision to accept PROS and USDC for its AI MaaS platform represents a practical step toward integrating blockchain payments with AI services. By offering discounts for native token use and supporting a stablecoin, the project is addressing both adoption incentives and user convenience. As AI agents become more prevalent, such payment integrations may become standard in the industry.
