In a recent live AMA session hosted from Wyoming, Charles Hoskinson, the visionary behind Cardano, announced a pivotal transition for the project’s community engagement. Cardano plans to shift its primary community interactions from X, formerly known as Twitter, to a more structured environment on Discord. Hoskinson used the opportunity to also provide insights into various ongoing projects, such as Midnight, RealFi, and a scrapped marketing concept with SpaceX. Cardano is renowned for its role in enabling smart contracts and supporting decentralized applications within its blockchain infrastructure.

Why Move to Discord?

Hoskinson cited the unproductive nature of discussions on X as the motivation behind this move. The platform has been plagued with redundant criticisms and hostile exchanges, hampering meaningful discussions. Discord offers a solution with its capability for tight moderation and structured dialogues.

Charles Hoskinson indicated that transitioning to Discord facilitates a more managed discussion space, enhancing the quality of interactions within the Cardano community.

He pointed to the success of the Midnight Discord server to justify this decision. Over six months, membership surged from 11,000 to 49,000, highlighting how a well-regulated forum can foster vibrant community engagement and effective communication regarding project updates.

What’s Next for Cardano’s Products?

Although the shift to Discord commences soon, X will remain operational for some time. Live updates may continue there until the transition phase concludes. Hoskinson discussed various product developments, noting that RealFi is advancing smoothly with John O’Connor stepping into a pivotal role.

He revealed significant strides for the Midnight ecosystem, detailing how users can expect to develop unique digital agents. This aligns with a broader vision to enhance user capabilities within Midnight City. Additionally, Hogan’s launch is anticipated soon as a Bitcoin-based DeFi project.

Important upcoming milestones include the rollout of the Leo testnet aimed for June 23. Community participation in this testing phase is highly encouraged. During these phases, the Dust token will play a critical role in facilitating transactions, with a clear focus on system stability and feature enhancement.

Marketing Gambit with SpaceX Pulled

Plans for a high-profile marketing campaign in collaboration with SpaceX have been shelved. The ambitious endeavor aimed to spotlight Cardano and Midnight in a space-themed portrayal, featuring community participation in astronaut training. However, financial barriers rendered the project impractical. Hoskinson commented on this, noting budget constraints in upcoming market conditions.

The envisioned campaign’s expenses exceeded feasible limits under the predicted economic landscape of 2024-2025, according to Hoskinson.

Discussions on integrating the dropped initiative with partner projects like Lace or Midnight City continue. On the governance front, Hoskinson identified a need for Cardano to implement structural shifts, improving proposal assessments with tangible economic benefits. While proposals related to Midnight and Strike have faced challenges, community-endorsed projects remain a possibility.

Hoskinson further addressed previous allegations tied to ADA voucher issues. Following an audit, Hoskinson was exonerated, with most purchasers having received due allocations. Plans for compensating a small 0.3% are underway, safeguarding Cardano’s commitment to transparency and fairness.
