Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced plans to move key community discussions from X to dedicated Discord channels, signaling a significant change in how the ecosystem may handle governance and development conversations.
According to Hoskinson, the proposed transition is designed to create a more productive environment for community members while reducing distractions that often dominate public social media platforms. The initiative is being coordinated with EMURGO President Phillip Pon and would gradually relocate many day-to-day discussions to Discord.
While X will remain an important platform for announcements and livestream broadcasts, Hoskinson indicated that future Ask Me Anything sessions would take place through either the new Cardano Discord server or the existing Midnight Discord community. He argued that dedicated discussion spaces can help community members focus on meaningful collaboration instead of ongoing disputes that frequently consume attention on social media.

According to Hoskinson, moderated channels could provide a setting where governance discussions, technical development, and ecosystem coordination receive greater attention. He stated that participants would be able to engage in more constructive conversations while avoiding the negativity that often emerges on public platforms.
Moreover, the proposal reflects a broader effort to strengthen communication within the Cardano ecosystem during a period of heightened internal debate. Community discussions surrounding treasury funding, project sustainability, and ecosystem priorities have intensified in recent months.
Several notable developments have also contributed to increased scrutiny across the community. These include the closure of certain ecosystem projects and the cancellation of the Cardano 2026 Summit in Singapore.
Additionally, ADA has continued to face market pressure, with the cryptocurrency trading near multi-year lows. Consequently, some supporters view the Discord initiative as an attempt to keep attention focused on development rather than social media disputes.

However, not all community members welcomed the announcement. Critics quickly questioned whether moving important discussions into moderated channels aligns with Cardano’s commitment to decentralization and transparency. Some users argued that public platforms provide greater visibility into governance conversations and leadership decisions. Others suggested that relocating discussions to private servers could limit broader community participation.
Meanwhile, supporters of the proposal believe moderation can improve discussion quality and reduce disruptive behavior. They argue that productive collaboration becomes more difficult when conversations are constantly interrupted by personal attacks and recurring conflicts. The differing reactions highlight an ongoing debate within blockchain communities regarding the balance between open participation and effective communication.

Hoskinson appears committed to expanding Cardano’s presence on Discord while maintaining X as a distribution channel for updates and broadcasts. Whether the broader community embraces the migration remains uncertain, but the proposal has already sparked an important conversation about governance, transparency, and the future direction of communication within the Cardano ecosystem.
