The answer

An enterprise AI deployment platform with SOC 2 compliance is one whose controls are audited against the AICPA Trust Services Criteria and that builds the enterprise-table-stakes — single sign-on (SSO) and audit logs — into the same boundary as compute, databases, and the deploy pipeline. The reason a single platform matters is rarely on the feature comparison: every separate vendor in your AI stack becomes a subservice organization your auditor must account for. CreateOS has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit and offers multi-tenant, on-prem, bring-your-own-cloud, region-aware, and air-gapped deployment options, so the compute, managed databases, LLM routing, and deployment loop sit inside one audited boundary instead of five contracts.

Why this matters: the audit surface is the cost no one prices in

Enterprise AI buyers evaluate vendors the way they evaluate any SaaS — feature by feature, price by price. That misses the largest hidden cost of the modern AI stack: compliance scope. A typical production AI system stitches together at least five distinct vendors. Compute. A managed database. An identity provider for SSO. An audit-logging or SIEM pipeline. A deploy/CI platform. Each one touches regulated data, and each one lands inside your security review.

The stakes are not theoretical. IBM's 2025 Cost of a Data Breach Report puts the global average breach at USD 4.44 million, and organizations with high levels of "shadow AI" — unsanctioned AI tools running outside governance — paid USD 670,000 more per breach on average (IBM Cost of a Data Breach 2025). The same report found 63% of breached organizations had no AI governance policy. A sprawling multi-vendor stack is how shadow AI and ungoverned data paths multiply in the first place.

The thesis of this post: consolidating the stack into one SOC 2 Type II execution layer with SSO and audit logs does more than simplify procurement — it collapses the compliance surface your auditor has to evaluate.

What SOC 2 actually scopes (and why every vendor counts)

SOC 2 is an attestation, defined by the AICPA, that reports on a service organization's controls relevant to five Trust Services Criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy (AICPA SOC suite of services). A SOC 2 report is an attestation, not a certification — there is no certificate. It comes in two forms: a Type I report assesses the design of controls at a single point in time, while a Type II report tests that those controls operated effectively over a period of time. CreateOS holds a SOC 2 Type II report, the period-tested form. When you buy a SaaS product, you are relying on its SOC 2 report to cover the controls it operates on your behalf.

The catch is what happens when that vendor relies on other vendors. In SOC 2 language, those are subservice organizations, and the controls you depend on them for are Complementary Subservice Organization Controls (CSOCs) — controls your system needs to meet its commitments but that a third party actually operates. Auditors handle them one of two ways (Linford & Co., subservice carve-out vs. inclusive):

Carve-out method. The subservice organization is excluded from the report scope, but your organization must operate and document controls that monitor the subservice provider. This is the most common method — and it pushes monitoring obligations onto you for every carved-out vendor.

Inclusive method. The subservice organization's controls are pulled into your description and evaluated as an extension of your own system.

Either way, every separate vendor adds work: another report to collect, another set of complementary controls to operate, another contract to map to a Trust Services Criterion. Stitch five vendors together and you are managing five subservice relationships before your own controls are even assessed.

The multi-vendor scope explosion, concretely

Here is what a fragmented enterprise AI stack looks like through an auditor's lens:

Stack layerTypical separate vendorWhat it lands as in your SOC 2Compute / runtimeCloud or PaaS providerSubservice org — carve-out + monitoring controlsManaged databaseSeparate DB hostSubservice org — data-at-rest, access controls to mapAuth / SSOIdentity providerSubservice org — authentication control evidenceAudit logging / SIEMLogging vendorSubservice org — log integrity + retention controlsDeploy / CI pipelineSeparate CI platformSubservice org — change-management controls

Five vendors, five subservice relationships, five sets of complementary controls, five contracts and DPAs. That is the audit surface a feature-by-feature comparison never shows you.

The fix: collapse the stack into one audited boundary

When compute, databases, identity, logging, and deployment live inside one platform, four of those five subservice relationships disappear from your scope. You are evaluating one provider's controls, not coordinating five reports and the complementary controls between them.

CreateOS is built as that single execution layer. It coordinates the full AI lifecycle — infrastructure, compute, LLM orchestration, agent deployment, and monetization — in one place instead of three, is SOC 2 Type II, and offers a choice of deployment posture for regulated teams: multi-tenant by default, plus on-prem, bring-your-own-cloud, region-aware, and air-gapped options. The managed databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, Valkey) are single-tenant and region-aware, so data isolation is part of the same boundary rather than a separate vendor's responsibility.

SSO and audit logs are inside the boundary, not bolted on

The two controls enterprise security reviews ask for first are SSO and audit logging. Both are control evidence, not nice-to-haves.

Single sign-on. NIST defines SSO as "an authentication process by which one account and its authenticators are used to access multiple applications in a seamless manner, generally implemented with a federation protocol" (NIST SP 800-63-4, via NIST glossary). SSO maps directly to the access-control evidence a SOC 2 security review expects, and it removes the orphaned-credential risk that comes from each vendor maintaining its own login.

Audit logs. NIST defines an audit log as "a chronological record of system activities" including "records of system accesses and operations performed in a given period" (NIST glossary, audit log). The NIST SP 800-53 Audit and Accountability (AU) control family exists precisely so that access and operations are recorded and reviewable. When logging is native to the execution layer, you get one chronological record across compute, data access, and deployment — instead of correlating logs across five vendors after an incident.

CreateOS already runs this pattern in production. Its litigation intelligence layer gives each user "a unique login per user with a full audit log of every document accessed," deployable in CreateOS cloud, the firm's environment, or fully on-premise with zero data retention by default. That is SSO-style access control and per-action audit logging operating inside one boundary on real regulated data.

Proof: one boundary, real enterprise workloads

The pattern is not a roadmap claim. Two production deployments show the single-boundary approach handling regulated, high-volume data.

In the litigation deployment, CreateOS turns raw matter files into a source-cited Timeline Brief, designed to cut manual preparation time by up to 40% depending on matter complexity, and surfacing a 400+ page contract as the dozen clauses that bear on the live question. Sheena Kohli, Legal and Investor Relations Lead at NodeOps, framed the constraint:

"Litigation teams don't have a fact problem. They have a fact-finding problem. The workflow is right. What's missing is the intelligence layer that sits between the documents and the strategy meeting. CreateOS exists to put that layer in place, on the firm's own infrastructure, with every fact cited and every gap flagged before the first hearing."

The load-bearing detail for compliance: this runs on the firm's own infrastructure with per-user audit logging and zero retention — the data custody, the access control, and the logging all inside one boundary the firm controls.

In the industrial deployment, cotton-processing facilities across four Indian states connected existing CCTV to CreateOS and processed 50,000+ hours of video (roughly 75 TB) over a 75-day pilot with no in-house DevOps team. Different sensitivity profile, same architecture: one platform absorbing compute, storage, and oversight rather than the customer wiring together separate vendors.

Underneath both is a platform with 3 years in production AI and 99%+ uptime on the NodeOps network — single-boundary is the standard path, not a downgraded one.

If your security review hinges on the control posture specifically, the litigation deployment case study shows the access-control and audit-logging posture on real regulated data, and the enterprise deployments page shows how teams run these workloads.
Common questions

What is an enterprise AI deployment platform with SOC 2 compliance?

It is a platform whose controls are audited against the AICPA Trust Services Criteria — security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy — and that hosts enterprise AI workloads with the access controls and logging a security review requires. CreateOS has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit and offers multi-tenant, on-prem, bring-your-own-cloud, region-aware, and air-gapped deployment options.

Is CreateOS SOC 2 certified?

Yes — CreateOS has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit, the form that tests controls over a period of time rather than at a single point. SOC 2 is technically an attestation report, not a certificate; the report is available under NDA as part of a security review. The controls — single-tenant databases, region-aware compute, access control, and audit logging — operate in production across cloud, on-prem, and air-gapped deployments.

Why does using fewer AI vendors reduce compliance work?

Every separate vendor your system depends on becomes a subservice organization in your SOC 2 scope. Auditors either carve them out, which obligates you to operate monitoring controls, or include them in your report. Consolidating compute, databases, SSO, logging, and deployment into one platform removes those extra subservice relationships and the complementary controls between them.

How does SSO support SOC 2 in an AI platform?

Single sign-on uses one account and its authenticators to access multiple applications through a federation protocol, per NIST SP 800-63-4. That maps directly to the access-control evidence a SOC 2 security review expects, and it eliminates the orphaned credentials that accumulate when every vendor maintains its own separate login.

What do audit logs need to capture for enterprise AI?

An audit log is a chronological record of system activities, including system accesses and operations performed over a period, per NIST. For enterprise AI, that means recording who accessed which data and which actions ran across compute, databases, and deployment. Native logging produces one record instead of forcing log correlation across multiple vendors after an incident.

Can a SOC 2 Type II AI platform run on-prem or air-gapped?

Yes. CreateOS lists on-prem and air-gapped deployment among its options for regulated industries, alongside bring-your-own-cloud and region-aware compute. In an air-gapped deployment the orchestration and models run inside the controlled boundary, so the same access-control and audit-logging posture applies without data crossing an external network.

Has CreateOS run enterprise workloads with audit logging on regulated data?

Yes. A litigation intelligence deployment gives each user a unique login with a full audit log of every document accessed, running in cloud, the firm's environment, or fully on-premise with zero data retention by default. Separately, an industrial pilot processed 50,000+ hours of CCTV (about 75 TB) over 75 days with no in-house DevOps team.

What is the cost of running AI across too many ungoverned vendors?

IBM's 2025 Cost of a Data Breach Report puts the global average breach at USD 4.44 million and found organizations with high shadow-AI use paid USD 670,000 more per breach on average, with 63% of breached organizations lacking an AI governance policy. Fragmented multi-vendor stacks are a primary way ungoverned AI data paths proliferate.
