Stellar

On May 27, the DTCC and the Stellar Development Foundation announced plans to <a href="https://timestabloid.com/its-official-dtcc-just-sealed-a-big-deal-with-stellar-xlm-network/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">integrate DTCC’s tokenized securities platform with the Stellar network</a> by the first half of 2027.
The scope is significant, as Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries will become available on-chain for the first time. XLM surged over 14% on the news. Investors took notice, and some in the market seem to be selling their XRP to buy XLM.

Crypto researcher SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) cut straight to it in his latest post, writing, “Don’t sell your XRP for XLM.”
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet">
 If it’s not clear yet:
 Don’t sell your XRP for XLM.
 — SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) <a href="https://x.com/SMQKEDQG/status/2060490577955770485?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">May 29, 2026</a>
</blockquote>
XRP targets institutional settlements and liquidity, and XLM targets retail access and cross-border payments. These are complementary functions, and many believe that investors who prefer one over the other are missing the point.
The DTCC’s approach reinforces this view. It has confirmed it is pursuing a multi-chain strategy, meaning Stellar will not be its exclusive blockchain partner. <a href="https://timestabloid.com/expert-explains-why-dtcc-choosing-xlm-over-xrpl-should-not-upset-xrp-army/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Choosing one asset over the other</a> because of this announcement reflects a misreading of what the partnership actually says.

The response to SMQKE’s post was consistent. One commenter <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2060669955989717267" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">stated</a> that both assets were created to be <a href="https://timestabloid.com/wisdomtree-xrp-and-xlm-are-payment-infrastructure-assets/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">the future of payments</a>. However, he argued that XRP has a greater purpose around settlements and liquidity, making proportional investment in both a logical move.
Another commenter <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2060502774761009291" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">described</a> the dynamic as one asset serving institutions and the other serving retail. Both deserve a place in a portfolio. A third <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2060531623695884677" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">dismissed</a> the idea of selling XRP entirely, calling it nonsense. Another commenter <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2060494763883921589" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">predicted</a> that investors rotating into XLM today will chase the next asset tomorrow, treating the cycle as entirely foreseeable, as weak investors cannot stay committed.
Several others reinforced the same position. One <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2060572451063345397" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">shared</a> his conviction, stating that he would not chase an asset just because its price is up. Another <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2060507109591334953" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">expressed</a> confidence that both assets will deliver over time.

<h2 id="strong-two-assets-one-ecosystem-strong">Two Assets, One Ecosystem</h2>
The DTCC partnership is a meaningful milestone for XLM. It also fits neatly within a larger truth about how financial infrastructure develops. No single protocol handles everything. Settlements, custody, tokenization, retail payments, and liquidity each require different infrastructure.
Some experts believe XRP and XLM can function together in a <a href="https://timestabloid.com/xrp-and-xlm-set-to-facilitate-two-tier-monetary-system/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">two-tiered financial system</a>. XRP occupies a specific position in that system. The Stellar partnership does not replace that position, but adds to the overall picture. Investors who understand this are holding both assets. Those who rotated are chasing a narrative that the announcement may not support.
