Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has raised a community alert over a suspected THORChain exploit. The attack reportedly targeted Bitcoin, Ethereum, BSC, and Base networks simultaneously. Stolen funds are estimated to exceed $10.7 million.
Following the alert, THORChain executed a global emergency halt across its network. The protocol also paused all trading activity as a precautionary measure to contain further losses.

ZachXBT initially flagged the suspicious activity after reviewing on-chain data across multiple networks. His investigation revealed that the protocol had been compromised on four separate blockchains at once. The cross-chain nature of the attack made early loss estimates difficult to confirm accurately.
After completing a thorough accounting review, ZachXBT revised his initial figures upward. He noted on X that the total stolen amount was at least $10 million, after rechecking the numbers across all chains listed. The revised estimate climbed from $7.4 million to $10.7 million following the update.

Can tell because they did not check the numbers themselves / chains listed.
I finished accounting again now and it looks to be $10M+ stolen at least.

Three theft addresses were publicly identified as part of the alert. These included one Bitcoin address and two Ethereum-compatible wallet addresses linked to the suspected attacker. On-chain data from Arkham Intelligence further supported the investigator’s findings.

THORChain Responds With Emergency Network Halt

THORChain moved quickly once the exploit reports began circulating within the community. The protocol triggered a global emergency halt to stop any further unauthorized outflows. A trading pause was also enforced across the platform as the team assessed the situation.
The multi-chain scope of the attack placed pressure on the protocol’s security response. Bitcoin, Ethereum, BSC, and Base were all reportedly affected within the same exploitation window. This made containment more complex compared to single-chain incidents.
THORChain has faced scrutiny over its security architecture in the past. However, the speed of the emergency response showed the protocol had contingency measures in place. Further updates from the team are expected as the investigation continues across all affected chains.
