Polymarket has rolled out a series of feature updates to its prediction market platform while simultaneously banning accounts linked to ghost transactions, signaling a dual push toward improved usability and stronger platform integrity.

Polymarket Launches New Feature Updates

Polymarket announced an exchange upgrade dated April 28, 2026, targeting core trading infrastructure. The upgrade addressed platform performance under increasing user demand and load.

The update came as the platform faced growing infrastructure strain. Phemex reported that Polymarket announced major technical upgrades specifically in response to that pressure, suggesting the changes were reactive rather than purely proactive.

Changes to User Workflows

Polymarket's documentation also outlines updated processes for deposit wallets, which form part of the platform's broader infrastructure for onboarding funds and managing user balances. Changes to deposit wallet workflows directly affect how traders interact with the platform daily.

The platform has also refreshed its error code documentation, giving developers and users clearer guidance when transactions fail or encounter unexpected states. This reduces friction for active traders troubleshooting failed orders.

Platform Intent Behind the Timing

Releasing infrastructure upgrades alongside enforcement actions suggests Polymarket is treating reliability and trust as a single initiative. The approach mirrors how traditional exchanges handle platform maturation, bundling technical improvements with compliance measures in coordinated rollouts.

Why Polymarket Banned Accounts Linked to Ghost Transactions

Alongside the feature rollout, Polymarket has banned accounts linked to ghost transactions. Ghost transactions generally refer to orders or trades that appear in a system's records but do not correspond to legitimate, settled activity on the underlying blockchain.

What Triggered the Bans

The bans represent an enforcement action aimed at preserving market integrity. On prediction markets, ghost transactions could distort displayed volumes, mislead other traders about market sentiment, or enable manipulation of outcome pricing.

Polymarket has not publicly disclosed the number of accounts affected or the specific detection methods used. The enforcement action was reported alongside the platform's technical upgrades, suggesting both initiatives may be part of a coordinated effort.

Implications for Affected Users

Accounts flagged for ghost transaction activity face permanent removal from the platform. Without public disclosure of detection criteria, affected users have limited visibility into why their accounts were targeted.

The crypto industry has seen similar enforcement patterns elsewhere. Malaysian authorities recently faced scrutiny over an alleged 50,000 USDT seizure that highlighted how enforcement transparency remains a challenge across digital asset platforms.

How the Two Moves Fit Together for Platform Integrity

Pairing product improvements with moderation enforcement is a pattern common among maturing crypto platforms. For Polymarket, both user experience and market integrity are essential to sustaining growth in the prediction market sector.

Trust Impact

Feature updates address the demand side, making the platform more functional and resilient under load. Account bans address the supply side of trust, removing actors whose behavior undermines confidence in displayed market data.

Stablecoin flows offer a useful parallel for understanding platform trust dynamics. Recent data showing Ethereum-based USDT recording its biggest exchange net outflow in three months illustrates how users move funds when confidence shifts, a dynamic Polymarket is working to prevent on its own platform.

Trading Behavior and Market Positioning

Ghost transaction removal should produce cleaner volume and sentiment data for remaining traders. Accurate volume signals are critical for prediction market participants who rely on displayed liquidity when sizing positions.

The combination is particularly relevant as prediction markets face increasing scrutiny from regulators and competitors. Platforms that cannot demonstrate credible enforcement against manipulation risk losing both users and regulatory standing.

What Users and Observers Should Watch Next

Affected users should monitor Polymarket's official channels for clarification on what specific behaviors triggered the bans and whether appeal processes are available. The platform's help center and documentation pages remain the most reliable sources for updated guidance.

Traders who rely on Polymarket for active positioning should verify that the exchange upgrade has not changed deposit or withdrawal workflows affecting their current setups. Reviewing the updated error code documentation can help identify whether previously encountered issues have been resolved.

The broader digital asset industry continues to grapple with balancing growth and enforcement. Large-scale corporate moves, such as Bitcoin miner MARA launching a $600M notes consent solicitation, show that infrastructure investment and governance tightening are happening in parallel across crypto sectors.
