Elon Musk

X, the social media giant owned by Elon Musk, has regularly been making updates to weed out spam and fraud from the platform, and product head Nikita Bier has been at the forefront of the effort.
On Apr. 1, Benjamin White, the founder of the prediction market Predictfully, <a href="https://x.com/HelloBenWhite/status/2039339448031121901" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">shared his experience</a> about his X account getting hacked and the hacker posting&nbsp;scam content, including tokens, links, etc.
Worse, the hacker even tried to&nbsp;extort $4,000 from&nbsp;White&nbsp;to return the account. Thankfully, he&nbsp;got back the control of his account after the X team resolved the matter,&nbsp;White shared.

Nonetheless, the&nbsp;Predictfully founder <a href="https://x.com/HelloBenWhite/status/2039340004548202578" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">urged</a> Bier to address the widespread issue.
The X&nbsp;product head <a href="https://x.com/nikitabier/status/2039341761156538644" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">acknowledged</a> the problem and reassured that the team is in the process of implementing a process of auto-locking and verifying an account that posts about cryptocurrency for the first time in the history of their account.
Since Google isn't doing anything to stop phishing emails, this process should do the trick and&nbsp;kill 99% of the incentive, Bier claimed.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet">
 Yeah we’re aware. We are in the process of implementing auto-locking + verification if a user posts about cryptocurrency for the first time in the history of their account. This should kill 99% of the incentive, especially since Google isn’t doing shit to stop the phishing…— Nikita Bier (@nikitabier) <a href="https://twitter.com/nikitabier/status/2039341761156538644?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">April 1, 2026</a>

Another user <a href="https://x.com/gorillapanics/status/2039342231304196291" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">asked him</a> about crypto scam&nbsp;accounts&nbsp;tagging 50 people at the same time, to which <a href="https://x.com/nikitabier/status/2039342414494826690" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bier said</a> it should already be blocked. However, a few <a href="https://x.com/antibot4navalny/status/2039439858653913443" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">users</a> still <a href="https://x.com/Fudmasta/status/2039384465290514832" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">complained</a> about getting tagged in such posts.

<h2 id="how-x-deals-with-crypto-content">How X deals with crypto content</h2>
This isn't the first time X has taken steps to crack down on spam and bots, including crypto content.
In January, the platform <a href="https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/markets/elon-musks-x-cracks-down-on-ai-bot-rewards-triggering-token-crash" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">targeted</a>&nbsp;apps, such as information finance (InfoFi), which&nbsp;turn financial information and user engagement into monetary value. Bier claimed such accounts post a lot of AI slop and reply spam, which is why they are getting targeted. The crypto community largely welcomed the move; however, some users decried financial loss.
However, the social media giant has also taken steps to become more user-friendly by planning&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/technology/elon-musks-x-removes-criminal-crypto-account-after-backlash" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Starterpacks</a>. The feature lets new X users find the best accounts as per their interests.&nbsp;There are a few crypto-based Starterpacks too, such as <a href="https://x.com/nikitabier/status/2014109307764351107" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Crypto Founders</a>, <a href="https://x.com/nikitabier/status/2014082404793921599" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin Maximalists</a>, etc.
Musk himself often talks about cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin positively, even <a href="https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/markets/elon-musk-showers-love-on-bitcoin-again-after-a-long-hiatus" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">posting</a> a Bitcoin anime recently.
