Wallets tied to the UAE Royal Group currently hold roughly 6,782 Bitcoin valued at approximately $454 million.The country's mining infrastructure has produced around 4.2 <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a> per day over the past seven days, indicating that operations remain active despite Bitcoin's decline from late-2025 price levels. Excluding energy costs, Arkham estimates the position reflects a cost basis well below current market prices due to years of industrial-scale mining rather than open-market purchases.The UAE's mining activity dates to 2022, when Citadel Mining, tied to Abu Dhabi's royal family through International Holding Company, established large-scale facilities on Al Reem Island. In 2023, MARA Holdings, formerly Marathon Digital, partnered with Abu Dhabi-based Zero Two to develop 250 megawatts of immersion-cooled mining capacity in the region, one of the largest disclosed industrial deployments in the Gulf.Arkham first identified the UAE's wallets in August 2025, at which point it estimated the country's mined holdings at approximately $700 million with around 9,300 Bitcoin produced and 6,300 Bitcoin retained. The current figures reflect updated wallet tracking and lower Bitcoin prices, not large-scale selling. The most recent notable fund outflow from UAE Royal Group wallets occurred approximately four months ago.Unlike the U.S. and U.K., whose Bitcoin holdings stem primarily from asset seizures in law enforcement actions, the UAE's position is the product of sustained mining and retention. By holding most of what it produces, the country is effectively converting energy infrastructure into a growing sovereign digital reserve. The UAE Royal Group's 6,782 Bitcoin represents approximately 0.03% of Bitcoin's total supply.The UAE is not the only government mining <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a>. Bhutan's Royal Government, through Druk Holding and Investments, began mining in 2019 using hydroelectric resources and accumulated over $1 billion in Bitcoin at its peak. Unlike the UAE, Bhutan has been systematically reducing its holdings since the start of 2026, selling approximately $29 million over three consecutive weeks, with total sales exceeding $100 million over the past five months. Bhutan currently holds 5,600 <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a> valued at $375 million,<a href="https://intel.arkm.com/explorer/entity/druk-holding-investments" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> per Arkham.</a>Among all sovereign holders tracked by Arkham, the U.S. government ranks first with 328,000<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Bitcoin </a>valued at approximately $22 billion, representing 1.64% of total supply. Those holdings were accumulated through FBI recoveries from the Bitfinex hack, Silk Road seizures, and assets taken from Silk Road hacker James Zhong, with an additional 127,000 Bitcoin recently acquired from the LuBian Hacker address. The U.K. government ranks second with 61,000 Bitcoin valued at approximately $4 billion, seized through Metropolitan Police operations, including a 2018 case involving Jian Wen and Zhimin Qian.In a market where many miners have sold into recent price weakness to fund operations, the UAE has continued accumulating, building a strategic reserve position that compounds with each block produced.
