Crypto analyst Benjamin Cowen stated Bitcoin will likely keep bleeding against the stock market as expectations of a massive rotation from gold and silver into<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/cryptocurrency" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> crypto </a>may be misplaced. Gold and silver recently surged to all-time highs of $5,608.33 and $121.64, respectively, according to Trading Economics.
Citi predicted Tuesday that silver could climb to $150 within three months, driven by Chinese demand and the U.S. dollar hitting four-year lows. Cowen emphasized the rotation to Bitcoin probably will not happen in the short term, despite many market participants betting that precious metals hitting new highs signals Bitcoin will eventually follow.
Bitcoin is <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">trading</a> at $82,859 at publication time, down 7.78% over the past seven days according to CoinMarketCap. Swyftx lead analyst Pav Hundal told Cointelegraph the market may be near a turning point. He stated the industry is right on the cusp of where it would traditionally expect to see re-risking back into Bitcoin, noting that Bitcoin bottoms have historically lagged gold's relative strength by about 14 months.
Hundal anticipates the rotation will happen in February or March if history repeats. He explained that gold typically leads during periods of macro stress, then Bitcoin follows once risk appetite returns, suggesting the tape should look less fragile by quarter-end if the model remains intact.
Bitwise Europe head of research Andre Dragosch <a href="https://x.com/Andre_Dragosch/status/2013246054490124290?s=20" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">stated</a> in a Jan. 19 post that Bitcoin is trading at a steep discount to gold on a relative basis. He described these asymmetric setups as very rare, adding that if flows turn, Q1 2026 could be the inflection point for the market.
Hundal emphasized that if the historical gold-Bitcoin dynamic holds, a potential Bitcoin bottom could form over the next 40 days. The analyst noted this projection carries significant uncertainty but pointed to the 14-month lag pattern as a key indicator for potential price recovery timing.
