X announced Sunday it will introduce Smart Cashtags, a feature allowing users to specify exact financial assets when posting ticker symbols.

Users tapping Smart Cashtags will see real-time pricing data alongside all posts mentioning the same asset.

Nikita Bier, X's Head of Product, revealed the feature in a January 11 post on the platform.
Smart Cashtags will let users specify whether a ticker refers to a cryptocurrency, stock, or smart contract address.
The system displays live price information from users' timelines without requiring external lookups.
X plans to collect user feedback during testing before a broader rollout expected in February 2026.
The feature resolves confusion when multiple assets share identical ticker symbols across different markets.

Bier stated "hundreds of billions of dollars are deployed based on things people read" on X.
The platform has become a primary source for real-time financial information and trading signals.
Smart Cashtags could reduce investment errors caused by ticker symbol confusion between crypto tokens and traditional securities.

Real-time price integration may increase X's utility for traders and investors making time-sensitive decisions.
