<p>Ethereum is about to enter a new era. In a message published on X, Vitalik Buterin announces a major technical upheaval: zk-EVMs could become, by 2027, the main block validation mechanism. A profound transformation of the protocol, which would mark one of the most ambitious turning points since the creation of the network. These mechanisms will support the network’s scale-up ahead of widespread zk-EVM adoption. Vitalik also indicates that zk-EVM nodes could already be operational on certain network segments this same year.</p><p>At the same time, he highlights another strategic component: distributed block building. According to him, the long-term goal is that <em>“a full block is never built in one place”</em>, meaning block construction is no longer centralized.</p><div class="my-4"><div class="ads "></div></div><p>He specifies that this reform is <em>“not urgent, but deserves to be built”</em>. It could go through protocol-integrated channels like FOCIL or decentralized validator marketplaces to limit centralized interference risks in transaction selection.
