On December 30, 2025, Delphi Digital reported via Twitter that GameFi's funding dropped over 55% year-over-year, highlighting underwhelming launches and diminished market enthusiasm.
This decline signals a setback for GameFi, with significant drops in token values impacting investor confidence and market stability.

Funding Decline and Market Enthusiasm

Delphi Digital revealed that GameFi significantly underperformed in 2025, experiencing a remarkable 55% drop in funding. As Delphi Digital noted, "GameFi underperformed in 2025, with funding down more than 55% year-over-year, highly anticipated product launches underdelivering, and low market enthusiasm." Many anticipated game launches failed to meet expectations, resulting in decreased market enthusiasm, particularly as blockchain games struggled to captivate their audience.
The report, shared on platform X (Twitter), indicates major industry players like Fumb Games, Mythical Games, and Wemade/Wemix continue operations without tokens.

Impact on Tokens and the Broader Market

The plunge in funding significantly impacted game development, leading to widespread industry discontent. GameFi-related tokens like GALA, Axie Infinity (AXS), and Enjin (ENJ) saw severe declines, underscoring a challenging year for these assets and their stakeholders.
Financial repercussions were felt across the board with affected tokens falling over 80%. Market cap reductions reduced the sector's viability and affected many games and developers. Broader crypto markets such as BTC and ETH appeared unaffected directly.

Investor Caution and Future Outlook

Amid these shifts, industry investors remain cautious, reevaluating their stakes and strategies. Regulatory bodies have not yet issued new guidance specific to these declines, as official channels offered limited updates on policy changes or compliance actions impacting GameFi players.
Looking forward, GameFi's path may involve consolidation and innovation to recover. Analysts from Delphi Digital suggest renewed focus on product value and user engagement could rectify these setbacks. Historical precedents from previous crypto cycles offer lessons but come with uncertainties. Read original article on coinlive.me
