On December 30, 2025, Grayscale Investments filed with the SEC to transform its Bittensor Trust into the first U.S.-listed ETP for Bittensor's TAO token on NYSE Arca.
The filing aims to open institutional access to TAO, signaling potential market impacts, as demonstrated by a 20% price surge following the announcement.
Grayscale Investments filed with the U.S. SEC to convert its Bittensor Trust into an exchange-traded product (ETP). This move could establish the first U.S.-listed ETP offering spot exposure to Bittensor's TAO token.
Grayscale announced plans to list this new product on NYSE Arca. Coinbase Custody and BitGo Trust will manage the underlying assets, aiming to replicate previous successful conversions of crypto trusts.
The Bittensor token, TAO, experienced a significant price increase, surging by 20% within 48 hours of the filing news. This price action suggests optimism among investors about the ETF's potential impact on market accessibility.
Plans to convert the trust to an ETF reflect Grayscale's strategy to meet growing institutional demand. Recent European launches and strategic decisions have indicated a broader appetite for digital asset offerings.
Grayscale's application marks a potential shift for institutional crypto accessibility, pending SEC approval. Similar past applications have succeeded, potentially setting a precedent for this ETF.
The reduction of daily TAO issuance post-halving increases token scarcity. Grayscale's move aligns with market trends, potentially influencing the regulatory outlook on digital asset ETPs.
