Real-world asset tokenization has been stuck in the rear seats of crypto for years, latent but untested. In 2025, that changed. Real-World Assets shifted into the mainstream as tokenized Treasuries, institutional funds, and private credit were used in real ways, regulators became more clear and of continuing demand. The centre of gravity in the market moved out of the speculative trades to the productive and yield-bearing assets.
Amid this expansion, a handful of platforms distinguished themselves by scaling faster, attracting more users, and providing more institutional traction than the rest of the market. This article profiles the seven fastest-growing RWA protocols of 2025, analyzing their performance based on user adoption, product traction, and asset growth.
Today, the Real-World Asset market has surpassed $18 billion in value, and a significant share of that growth is concentrated within the seven platforms examined below, each of which played a pivotal role in pushing tokenization into mainstream finance.

1. Securitize

Securitize led 2025, with a non-stablecoin RWA value of $3.3B, reinforcing its position as the most institutional-ready tokenization gateway. Its flagship product, Securitize BUIDL, also recorded a notable TVL of $2.6B, a strong indicator of investor confidence. The protocol’s dominance was due to its robust suite of U.S. Treasuries and institutional fund products, which had received a lot of inflows as investors continued migrating toward safe on-chain yield instruments. Its reputation as one of the industry’s most compliant platforms made it the first stop for traditional institutions entering RWAs. Beyond compliance, Securitize went on a rampage, expanding aggressively across Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, and emerging Layer 2 ecosystems, making it easy to access and integrate. The platform also recorded 1,737 verified RWA holders, ranking among the highest for institutional-focused issuers. In essence, Securitize’s combination of regulatory credibility, multi-chain reach, and institutional-grade asset offerings cemented its status as 2025’s most trusted and scalable RWA platform.

2. Maple

Maple delivered one of the strongest comebacks and expansions in 2025, closing the year with $2.2B in total RWA value, while its dedicated tokenized treasury product, SYRUP, reached a significantly higher TVL of $2.8B. Maple distinguished itself by offering a dual product mix of private credit and U.S. Treasuries, appealing to institutions seeking both risk-adjusted yields and safe collateralized positions. The protocol benefited heavily from its zero-default performance between 2024 and 2025, restoring confidence in on-chain credit after a volatile cycle in prior years. Its Treasury vault products delivered yields competitive with money markets, drawing both institutional and credit retail participants. Maple closed the year with 3,668 RWA holders, reflecting healthy adoption across both lenders and liquidity providers. Altogether, Maple’s well-balanced product suite, strong credit performance, and renewed trust positioned it as 2025’s most balanced and resilient RWA credit platform.

3. Ondo

Ondo closed 2025 with $1.8B in total RWA asset value, while its native tokenized treasury product, ONDO, matched this performance with a TVL of $1.8B. As demand for tokenized Treasuries surged globally, Ondo became the most widely adopted platform, amassing 38,838 RWA holders, one of the largest user base among all major RWA issuers. Its product offerings expanded well beyond Treasuries to include income funds and tokenized securities, widening its appeal across both retail and institutional segments. Ondo also grew rapidly across multiple ecosystems, including Solana, Polygon, Ethereum, BNB, Stellar, and other chains, ensuring deep liquidity and broad integration across DeFi. A defining advantage was its support for both U.S. Treasuries and tokenized stocks, a rare combination that positioned Ondo as a next-generation on-chain investment platform. Ultimately, Ondo’s accessibility, product diversity, and multi-chain distribution made it the default on-chain Treasury platform for retail users and emerging institutional participants.

4. Tether Holdings

Tether reached a total RWA value of $1.6 billion, with its tokenized asset products surpassing that figure, achieving a total value locked (TVL) of $2.2 billion. Leveraging its reputation as the world’s largest stablecoin issuer, Tether expanded into commodity-backed RWAs, including gold-linked reserves that gained strong traction in inflation-exposed markets. Its massive existing USDT ecosystem created a natural pipeline of users exploring RWA products for diversification and yield. Demand was especially strong in emerging markets where investors looked for hedges against local currency depreciation and limited access to traditional financial instruments. Tether’s brand recognition and operational scale allowed it to capture significant RWA market share rapidly, making its products instant liquidity hubs. As a result, Tether established itself as a major competitive force in the RWA commodity and reserve-backed assets sector.

5. Paxos

Paxos, long recognized for its regulated stablecoins, extended its regulatory-first approach into RWAs, ending the year with $1.4B in total RWA value, closely aligned with the TVL of its flagship asset, Paxos Gold (PAXG) at $1.43B. The company’s portfolio of commodity-backed assets (including gold) and U.S. Treasuries allowed investors to diversify across safe, highly regulated products. With 84,296 RWA holders, Paxos recorded the largest user base of any leading RWA issuer, reflecting broad market confidence and accessibility. In 2025, Paxos firmly positioned itself as the leading regulator-centric tokenization platform, appealing to institutions and retail users seeking compliance-grade asset exposure.

6. Centrifuge

Centrifuge continued its ascent as a decentralized credit infrastructure for RWAs, closing 2025 with $1.3B in total value across its credit markets, with its protocol (CFG) holding a total value locked (TVL) of $1.3 billion. The platform saw significant expansion in institutional credit pools and real-world receivables, strengthening its role as DeFi’s bridge into real-world financing. Centrifuge benefited from deeper integration with MakerDAO and increased cross-chain deployments, enhancing liquidity and enabling broader access to institutional credit assets. Despite having a relatively small holder base of only 22 holders, the concentration reflected a strongly institutional investor profile rather than retail participation. Its core focus remained on institutional funds and U.S. Treasuries, positioning it as a specialized, infrastructure-level protocol powering the next generation of on-chain credit markets. By year-end, Centrifuge had solidified its reputation as the backbone of decentralized credit within the wider RWA ecosystem.

7. Circle

Circle, the issuer of USDC, expanded its reach into RWAs through institutional liquidity products that brought its total RWA value to $1.2B, with its Treasury-linked product USYC recording a slightly higher TVL of $1.3B. The protocol’s entry into RWAs was fueled by strong demand for treasury-backed yield products from institutions already integrated into the USDC payments stack. This natural synergy allowed Circle to convert its enormous stablecoin network into an RWA adoption engine. Circle’s multi-chain expansion, covering 8+ networks, further boosted accessibility and liquidity across ecosystems. Through 2025, Circle’s Treasury-linked offerings became a compelling option for institutions seeking compliant, transparent, and highly liquid RWA exposure.

RWAs Are Driving Crypto’s Next Wave of Real-World Impact

The performance of the seven fastest-growing RWA protocols in 2025 showed that it was not just a year-over-year growth, but tokenization has entered a new phase of actual demand, quantifiable revenue, and institutional full-scale recognition. Being initially a niche experiment, it has now become one of the most important foundations of the on-chain economy.
Heading into 2026, the ecosystem is set to have grown past tokenized Treasuries and credit. Tokenized equities will gain mainstream use, and tokenized foreign exchange instruments could bring the traditional currency markets on-chain at a much larger scale. The decentralized credit sector is also getting competitive, as on-chain lending models become more mature and institutional borrowers seek transparent, lower-cost alternatives to traditional financing.
Integration across trading, payments, settlement layers, and institutional infrastructure is accelerating, positioning RWAs as a bridge between traditional finance and DeFi. This development highlights the fact that RWAs are becoming crypto’s most tangible, scalable, and revenue-generating use case. Unlike many purely speculative tokens, these assets provide measurable yield, liquidity, and security, appealing to both retail and institutional investors.
The year 2025 will be remembered as the year RWA tokenization proved its real-world impact, opening the door to broader adoption and unlocking the next phase of on-chain financial innovation.
