Polymarket and Kalshi dominate the booming prediction markets, driving a 580% surge in volume to $340 million by November 2025, with sports betting leading overall.
The rapid expansion signals increased institutional interest and potential regulatory shifts, particularly with ICE's substantial investment in Polymarket for U.S. market expansion.

In 2025, Polymarket and Kalshi emerged as dominant forces in sports betting prediction markets, controlling 98% of the market's volume. This marked a significant shift following regulatory challenges and strategic expansions that reshaped the landscape.
Polymarket, a decentralized platform, expanded globally but geofenced U.S. users due to regulatory scrutiny. Kalshi launched sports event contracts after court victories, enabling operation in states without legalized sports betting under federal approval.

Kanalcoin experts suggest ongoing regulatory scrutiny may affect technological advancements. As one expert noted, “Market dynamics continuously evolve amid both innovative offerings and potential policy shifts.” Historical trends underscore the need for flexible strategies.
