PENGU is not the first meme token that tried to be on the Las Vegas Sphere.
In 2024, Solana-based meme coin dogwifhat (WIF) generated widespread attention after its community raised nearly $700,000 in USDC in an effort to place its branding on the Sphere.
The campaign ultimately failed to materialize. A spokesperson for the venue later said no formal advertising agreement had been reached with dogwifhat, and organizers abandoned the effort in 2025, issuing refunds to contributors.

Pudgy Penguins began as a collection of 8,888 NFTs launched in July 2021 and has since expanded beyond crypto-native audiences through consumer products and licensing deals.
In 2023, Pudgy Penguins partnered with Walmart to sell branded physical toys in U.S. Walmart stores, marking one of the first times a major NFT-native brand achieved large-scale retail placement.
The brand has since partnered with companies including Pez, Care Bears and BE@RBRICK, and has released physical collectibles and digital games tied to its intellectual property.
Despite the marketing push, the Pudgy Penguins NFT collection has also seen significant declines. The floor price of Pudgy Penguins NFTs is down roughly 87% from its all-time high, which coincided with the launch of the PENGU token.
