There has been a lot of news and misinformation about the ongoing lawsuit involving Pi Network and some Vietnam investors. The aim of this article is to explain what actually happened and clear the air about this legal case.
According to Crypto Chix, a PI Pioneer who has been closely tracking the situation, the story revolves around a civil lawsuit filed in Hanoi, Vietnam, claiming around $10 million in damages connected to activities within the local Pi Network community. Many headlines suggest that Pi Network itself or its founders are being sued, but the details paint a very different picture.

On December 5–6, 2025, a group of 33 Vietnamese Pi Network pioneers filed a civil lawsuit in the People’s Court of Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. The plaintiffs are suing three individuals described as regional leaders or prominent community figures in Vietnam. The core allegation is that these individuals encouraged participants to spend money on goods, services, and recruitment with promises that Pi coins would soon be highly valuable on major exchanges. Total damages sought are around 258 billion Vietnamese dong, roughly $10 million USD.
Crypto Chix shared that this legal action does not involve Pi Network’s founders, Nicolas Kokkalis or Chengdiao, nor the Pi Network company itself. The case is strictly local and limited to Vietnam, meaning global operations and core development remain unaffected.

Reports stating that Pi Network is facing a $10 million fraud scandal can be technically accurate but misleading. Most readers might assume that the global Pi Network project or its founders are being sued, when the lawsuit only involves a small group of local community members. Crypto Chix pointed out that while the case references “fraudulent appropriation of property” under Vietnam’s penal code, it is filed as a civil case, not a criminal one.
Pi Network has publicly emphasized that no community member was authorized to guarantee coin values or promise exchange listings. According to announcements cited by Crypto Chix, any regional volunteer making such claims violated the network’s terms.

Impact on Pi Network Price

Pi Network price has shown some attention from the market following the news, but movements in PI price are more aligned with general crypto trends rather than the lawsuit itself. PI token and other related metrics remain largely unaffected by this local dispute. Crypto Chix explained that the case reflects challenges the project has faced for years, with some overenthusiastic pioneers making unrealistic financial promises.

These exaggerated claims can create confusion, especially for new members who might not understand the difference between global project operations and local community actions. Crypto Chix emphasized that separating these layers helps maintain clarity when following Pi Network developments.
The Vietnam lawsuit is small and localized, and it does not threaten Pi Network as a whole. It highlights the need for careful communication and managing expectations within fast-growing crypto communities. More cases could appear if Pi coins eventually launch and trade far below prices verbally promised by some local pioneers.
