Ice Open Network has released a detailed update on its upcoming token migration from $ICE (BSC) to $ION (ION chain), scheduled for December 17, 2025. According to the project’s development bulletin, the process will take place exclusively within the Online+ decentralized application, a shift from earlier expectations of exchange-based support. This change requires token holders to move assets into self-custodial wallets in advance, a step that several community members have flagged as important for ensuring smooth access on migration day.
This update also arrives alongside new product developments, giving users a clearer context on why the migration is being consolidated into a single ecosystem.

New Features and Ecosystem Unification

The migration aligns with the rollout of tokenized communities in Online+, a feature that lets creators issue community-specific tokens for engagement and monetization. In practice, creators can reward follower actions, such as post interactions or challenge participation, with tokenized incentives. Early testers have noted that these mechanics work most reliably once wallet recovery codes are backed up and synced across devices.
While the project positions $ION as the asset underpinning these interactions, users should weigh both the benefits and limitations of an ecosystem-only feature set. Consolidating activity into Online+ may streamline discovery and trading, but it also places users’ reliance on a single platform, particularly since external exchange-based migration pathways have been removed.
Recent updates listed in the November 24–30 development bulletin include stability fixes and UI refinements across the wallet, chat, feed, and profile modules, addressing issues that have historically been cited by users during periods of high activity.

ION Migration: What Users Need to Know

The migration will convert $ICE on Binance Smart Chain to $ION on the ION chain at a 1:1 ratio beginning December 17. Because the process now runs solely through Online+, users must complete all transfers and conversions within the app.

To reduce common errors reported in previous test migrations, such as failed BSC transfers during periods of network congestion, holders may benefit from verifying gas fees, testing with small amounts, and ensuring recovery codes are backed up before initiating the final swap.

Initial Setup for Holders:

Open the Online+ app and log in or register.

Create or access a self-custodial wallet.

Backup recovery codes; loss of these codes would prevent access to $ION after conversion.

Preparation Steps:

Select “Receive” and choose $ICE (BSC).

Copy the address and send $ICE from an external wallet such as MetaMask.

Test with a minimal transfer first to confirm network alignment and address accuracy.

Migration Process on or After December 17, 2025:

Navigate to Swap in Online+.

Select the maximum $ICE amount.

Choose the ION network and confirm the conversion.

The resulting $ION will remain in the Online+ wallet; verifying balances immediately after the swap is recommended.

To further enhance safety, users should remain cautious of phishing attempts that typically rise around major token migrations. Always confirm that wallet addresses and application URLs come from official Ice Open Network sources.

Conclusion

The ICE-to-ION transition marks a consolidation phase for Ice Open Network, pairing a technical shift with the introduction of tokenized communities and upcoming AI-powered gaming features. While the unified approach offers a more consistent user experience within Online+, the reliance on a single migration pathway has raised concerns among some holders who prefer third-party or exchange-supported options. Preparing wallets early, testing transfers, and maintaining secure backups can mitigate the most common user risks during such migrations.
As the network aims to strengthen privacy and scalability on its native chain, transparent communication and user preparedness will be central to ensuring a smooth transition.
