Elon Musk recently refuted claims of SpaceX's valuation reaching $800 billion via his X posts, asserting the true figure is approximately $400 billion.
Musk's clarification underscores the importance of distinguishing secondary market transactions from official valuations, highlighting investor interest dynamics without triggering significant cryptocurrency market shifts.
Elon Musk has publicly rejected a report claiming SpaceX's valuation at $800 billion, labeling it "fake news," and asserting a closer valuation to $400 billion. His response was communicated through his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Musk, serving as SpaceX's CEO and Chief Engineer, emphasized no active fundraising efforts at this exaggerated valuation. He noted that high-priced secondary sales don't equate to official company valuation changes.
"WSJ is again printing fake news. SpaceX is not raising money and valuation is ~ $400B, not $800B."
The lack of new fundraising indicates no direct financial impact from this valuation dispute. <a href="https://example.com/some/page" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Market reactions</a> were muted, with crypto-assets showing no significant price shifts linked to Musk's denial.
Financial implications mainly concern private equity markets, rather than the crypto sector. SpaceX's private status remains unchanged, reflecting a cooling in <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2025/12/05/spacex-reportedly-in-talks-for-secondary-sale-at-800b-valuation-which-would-make-it-americas-most-valuable-private-company/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">late-stage tech valuations</a>.
Crypto KOLs like Vitalik Buterin and Arthur Hayes did not associate this with crypto markets. Regulatory bodies, including the SEC and CFTC, provided no comments, reaffirming this as a non-crypto event.

Potential outcomes include increased scrutiny of private tech valuations and their macro sentiment effects. Musk's denial suggests analysts may revisit valuation models without assuming inflated secondary market transactions as true indicators.
