Attention, Injective (INJ) holders on Bithumb! The South Korean crypto exchange has announced a temporary suspension of all deposit and withdrawal services for the INJ token. This planned pause is a direct result of an upcoming network upgrade for the Injective protocol. If you use Bithumb for your INJ transactions, here’s everything you need to know to navigate this brief interruption smoothly.

Why is Bithumb Suspending INJ Services?

The core reason for the Bithumb INJ suspension is a scheduled network upgrade on the Injective blockchain. Exchanges often proactively halt external transfers during such events to ensure the safety of user funds. This prevents any potential issues, like transactions being sent to an old, incompatible network version. Therefore, the suspension is a standard security measure, not a cause for alarm. The halt is set to begin at 2:00 a.m. UTC on December 3.

What Does This Bithumb INJ Suspension Mean for You?

Understanding the scope of this temporary halt is crucial. Here’s a breakdown of what will and won’t be affected:

Deposits and Withdrawals Halted: You will not be able to send INJ to your Bithumb wallet from an external address or withdraw INJ from Bithumb to another wallet.

Trading Continues: Importantly, the Bithumb INJ suspension applies only to moving tokens on and off the exchange. You can still buy, sell, and trade INJ against other cryptocurrencies like KRW or BTC on Bithumb’s internal order book during this period.

Funds Are Safe: Your INJ tokens held in your Bithumb account remain secure and under your ownership. The suspension is a protective gate, not a lock on your assets.

How Should You Prepare for the Temporary Halt?

A little preparation can prevent last-minute stress. If you have pending transactions, complete them well before the 2:00 a.m. UTC deadline on December 3. Furthermore, if you need to move INJ for time-sensitive purposes like participating in a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol or making a payment, execute those withdrawals ahead of time. Mark your calendar for when services are expected to resume, which Bithumb will announce once the network upgrade is verified as stable.

Is This a Common Practice in Crypto?

Absolutely. This type of Bithumb INJ suspension for network maintenance is a standard industry practice that demonstrates an exchange’s operational diligence. Major upgrades can introduce new features, improve security, or enhance scalability. By pausing external transfers, exchanges like Bithumb ensure a seamless transition for their users and protect them from technical glitches. It’s a sign of responsible custodianship.

Conclusion: A Brief Pause for Progress

In summary, the temporary Bithumb INJ suspension is a short-term, planned measure for a long-term gain. It facilitates a crucial Injective network upgrade, paving the way for a more robust and feature-rich ecosystem. While your ability to move INJ on and off Bithumb will be paused, your funds are safe, and trading continues uninterrupted. By planning your transactions around this window, you can avoid inconvenience and look forward to the benefits the upgrade will bring to the INJ network.
