Coinbase plans to initiate spot trading for Plasma (XPL) on December 2, 2025. The trading pair XPL-USD will be available across platforms including Coinbase’s website, app, Advanced platform, and Exchange, enhancing liquidity despite Plasma's previous low network activity and price decline.
Coinbase announced the launch of spot trading for Plasma (XPL) on December 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. Trading will be available on Coinbase’s platform and its institutional Coinbase Exchange.
The Coinbase listing broadens market access for Plasma (XPL), potentially increasing liquidity. Market reactions remain mixed due to previous low network performance and token valuation decline.
Coinbase Markets will facilitate the trading of Plasma (XPL), enhancing its liquidity and accessibility. Plasma, a Layer 1 blockchain, faces market challenges, with a historically limited on-chain activity of 3.6 TPS out of 1,000 TPS capacity.
Plasma's native token, XPL, has a total circulating supply of 1.8 billion, aiming for better market stability through Coinbase.
"The launch of Plasma trading opens new avenues for liquidity and market access," said Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase. Coinbase Official Blog.
The crypto community reacts with caution given the previous token value decline despite high throughput promises.
Plasma’s valuation previously hit an early peak, experiencing a steep downturn. The Coinbase listing is set to reposition XPL in the market, potentially impacting ETH or BTC indirectly as Layer 1 competitors.
The market anticipates moderate price spikes akin to past Layer 1 token listings, though long-term sustained growth hinges on network activity improvements. Official statements from project leaders are currently absent, leaving investors speculative.
The implications might involve increased trading volumes for XPL; however, sustaining long-term gains may require substantial network use. Historically, similar Coinbase listings have delivered short-lived rallies without enduring momentum if underlying utility remains low. Read original article on coinlineup.com
