Ontology announces a node campaign and MainNet upgrade focused on blockchain and community governance. The update features an important ONG tokenomics update signaling a move to more streamlined operations. Participation was strong, with a unanimous community vote.

The campaign led by Jun Li, Ontology's founder, brings changes to ONG with a new supply cap. Liquidity locks and emission forecasting is part of the strategy approved by network operators, enhancing Ontology's governance framework.

The tokenomics update involves reducing ONG supply to 800 million, expected to enhance market stability. The permanent liquidity lock aims at improving predictability for investors. These measures received community backing, reflecting confidence in Ontology's direction.

Jun Li, Founder, Ontology, stated, "This decision sets ONG on a clear, sustainable path with an 800 million cap, a permanent liquidity lock, and predictable emissions that support ONT stakers and simplify planning for developers. Together, these improvements are intended to drive higher on-chain usage and transactions as we complete the MainNet v3.0.0 upgrade on December 1, 2025."

Financially, this move aligns with trends for Layer 1 ecosystems targeting sustainability. There are expected enhancements in staking incentives and network utility. History shows that such changes can lead to increased platform engagement and decentralized finance participation.

Past upgrades in Ontology have not included such a comprehensive approach to supply caps and liquidity locks. This trend matches industry-wide moves towards sustainable systems aligning incentives with network growth and longevity.

Experts suggest Ontology's changes will make it a better candidate for decentralized identity and privacy solutions. By extending token release schedules, Ontology improves the attractiveness for developers and users seeking long-term network reliability. https://twitter.com/OntologyNetwork/status/1909176387421757677
