Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, executed an on-chain burn of various memecoins unsolicitedly airdropped to his public wallet, confirming it on Twitter to maintain wallet transparency.
The burn represents Zhao's stance against unsolicited airdrops, potentially influencing market attitudes towards memecoins and emphasizing transparency in cryptocurrency practices.
Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, recently performed an on-chain burn of various random memecoins found in his public wallet. His action is part of an effort to promote wallet transparency and cleanup by removing unsolicited airdropped tokens. "Just cleaning out my wallet. This address is meant only for BNB. If you send me random tokens, don’t expect them to stay there – I might sell them next time instead of burning."
Zhao declared his intent publicly on X (Twitter) warning against sending memecoins to his wallet. The tokens, including QUQ and Brocolli (BROCCO), were unsolicited but have become common targets due to their viral potential.

The cleanup had no direct market impact on major cryptocurrencies. Binance's liquidity and financial structures remain unchanged, highlighting the prevalence of airdropped tokens in the crypto sector.
The burning event underscored concerns about memecoin airdrops contributing to misleading endorsements. While financial software and protocols on the BNB chain remained stable, the risk of market disruption persists amid such campaigns.
