Infinex is set to deprecate its early governance token XGP, introducing a new swap mechanism by the Infinex team. This transition involves the migration of XGP into the Patron NFT model, marking a shift in governance strategies.
The Infinex team announced the deprecation of XGP, urging holders to migrate by November 9, 2025. Patron NFTs replace governance points, providing voting power and participation in protocol governance.
The direct effects are felt by XGP token holders, who are required to migrate by the deadline. This impacts governance as community members adopt Patron NFTs for voting rights and influence over Infinex's strategic decisions.

"Infinex Patrons ... are granted voting power on Infinex’s governance, including XIPs, IRs, and future council elections. Beyond voting, Patrons help shape the broader direction and priorities of the protocol, ensuring that the community's voice guides its evolution." — Infinex Team, Infinex Support Docs

Market implications include shifts in governance power dynamics, encouraging more decentralized autonomy. This change reflects broader trends in DeFi toward reduced sybil attack vectors and enhanced community participation in decision-making processes.
Leadership and architecture input from Synthetix is evident, aligning Infinex's governance with decentralized finance innovations. This aligns with the broader industry movement towards enhancing community-driven protocols.
Historical precedents from Synthetix's governance and token management inform this transition. The migration to a Patron NFT model signals a push for tighter community alignment, reducing vulnerabilities, and increasing participant engagement. Read original article on tokentopnews.com
