Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the founder of Binance, has dismissed reports claiming his net worth stands at an eye-popping 190 billion yuan, stating that the figure is vastly inaccurate. This report, which emerged from an Asian news outlet, suggested that Zhao had jumped to 13th place on the Hurun Rich List, showcasing a remarkable 41% increase in his wealth from the previous year.
However, Changpeng Zhao wasted no time refuting the claim in a tweet, describing the figure as “nonsense” and hinting that the true value of his wealth is far lower.
Zhao’s response has left many scratching their heads, as he suggested dividing the 190 billion yuan by 100 to get a more accurate estimate of his fortune, which would bring the number closer to 190 million yuan.
While he did not directly confirm the exact amount, his cryptic tweet suggested a significant discrepancy between the reported figure and his actual wealth. Despite his statement, the media and financial community continue to speculate on his true fortune.

Bloomberg vs Hurun: A Discrepancy in CZ’s Wealth Estimates

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zhao’s estimated net worth currently stands at $65.4 billion, placing him at 26th on the global billionaire list. This figure, when converted to Chinese yuan, amounts to approximately 464 billion yuan, which is still considerably lower than the 190 billion yuan figure cited by the Hurun Rich List.
In comparison, Forbes estimates Zhao’s wealth at $88 billion, adding to the growing uncertainty surrounding his true net worth.
Zhao’s reaction to the Hurun Rich List brings attention to the difficulties of assessing the wealth of high-profile individuals in the cryptocurrency space. The volatile nature of the crypto market means that wealth figures can fluctuate significantly, making it hard to determine an exact number.
Despite the confusion, one thing is clear: Zhao is undeniably wealthy, but the precise amount of his fortune remains a mystery as conflicting estimates continue to surface.
