Once live, anyone will be able to deploy perpetual markets for virtually anything—from S&P 500 futures to meme coin perps, football game predictions, or custom AI token indices.

All markets will run on HyperCore’s high-performance engine, which already processes billions in daily volume, offering sub-second order execution and composable APIs for builders.

At the heart of HIP-3 is Builder-Deployed Perpetuals (BDPs), which allow users to create markets with full control over parameters like oracle selection, leverage, funding mechanics, and settlement logic. This flexibility enables onchain markets for traditional finance products, such as equities, indices, commodities, and forex, as well as native crypto innovations like exotic derivatives, prediction markets, and options-like structures.

For example, a team could deploy a perpetual market tracking the top ten AI tokens or a binary market on an upcoming election. The system uses a Dutch auction for deployment slots and requires builders to stake 1 million $HYPE as collateral, ensuring alignment and accountability.

HIP-3 also introduces a transparent fee system where builders can capture up to 50 percent of trading fees while contributing to the protocol’s growth. This creates a network effect: more markets attract more traders, increasing liquidity, fees, and demand for $HYPE. Unlike centralized exchanges, Hyperliquid allows market creation without opaque listing fees, making it an appealing alternative for professional traders and communities alike.

Early Signals and Future Potential

Initial interest in HIP-3 is strong. Framework Ventures and other teams have publicly signaled plans to deploy markets, while others quietly accumulate $HYPE stakes. As more markets go live, meta-aggregators and cross-market liquidity tools are expected to emerge, creating an interconnected ecosystem reminiscent of an “Expedia of perpetuals.” Early deployments on testnet, such as USDe-denominated perps, demonstrate the protocol’s potential to handle both crypto and fiat-linked products.

HIP-3 is more than a feature update—it is Hyperliquid’s transformation into a permissionless, internet-native derivatives infrastructure, capable of supporting the $1.8 trillion global derivatives market. For builders, traders, and investors, this means unprecedented access to financial products, the ability to innovate onchain, and potential revenue opportunities from transparent, high-volume markets.
