IOTA

TL;DR:The IOTA Trust Framework is an open-source suite of products that bridges the gap between complex blockchain technology and real business problems. From identity and notarization to tokenization and gasless transactions, it gives developers and organizations ready-to-use building blocks for secure, compliant, and scalable applications, all anchored to the high-performance IOTA protocol.

After a decade of building digital solutions with businesses from across the industry spectrum, we see the same trust-based challenges again and again. Organizations need to verify identities in open networks. They need to prove that their data hasn’t been tampered with. They want to digitize processes and trade real-world assets. They need to manage who can access what. And they need all of this with fewer intermediaries and without the friction of extra steps like fee payments.
Blockchain can help address these problems, but only if the complexity is removed. That’s the role of the IOTA Trust Framework: a suite of open-source tools that abstracts away technical hurdles and enables any organization to add trust to its infrastructure. All of it is anchored to the performance and scalability of the IOTA Layer 1 blockchain.

The IOTA Trust Framework

The IOTA Trust Framework is a set of products developed by the IOTA Foundation to make digital trust practical and scalable. Each component addresses recurring business requirements we’ve seen across years of real-world deployments — from verifying identities to proving data integrity and managing digital assets. You can deploy them individually to solve targeted problems or combine them for complete, end-to-end solutions.
The framework consists of five building blocks:

IOTA Identity turns verified organizations, people, and devices into trusted participants in IOTA's decentralized ecosystem, linking off-chain reputation with on-chain interactions. Learn more →

IOTA Hierarchies provides structured, attribute-based access control that mirrors real-world organizational structures, offering transparency, auditability, and flexibility. Learn more →

IOTA Notarization establishes trust in data by proving its integrity, timestamp, and origin, without revealing the data itself. Ideal for compliance, audit trails, and tamper-proof digital records. Learn more →

IOTA Gas Station enables user transactions to be sponsored, making IOTA-based services feel instant and familiar. The result is flawless onboarding and interaction without token management. Learn more →

IOTA Tokenization turns real-world and digital assets into secure, tradable tokens with full control over ownership, compliance, and customization. Learn more →

Each component works independently to solve specific problems, or they can be combined to create comprehensive solutions. Anyone can start with one building block that addresses their immediate need, then expand as requirements grow. The framework's modular design means never getting locked into an all-or-nothing implementation.
The underlying infrastructure, powered by the Move Virtual Machine, delivers enterprise-ready performance capable of tens of thousands of TPS and sub-second finality, making it scalable across sectors from product provenance and supply chain to digital identity and finance. Every transaction remains verifiable on a transparent, decentralized network.

From Real Problems to Live Solutions

Unlike proprietary B2B providers or pay-per-use blockchain services, the IOTA Trust Framework takes a different path. For builders and institutions, it provides an open, reliable alternative designed for real-world needs. Developers gain integration tools, supply chain managers get verifiable authenticity without overhauls, and compliance officers benefit from audit-ready infrastructure. The Trust Framework removes technical barriers so organizations can focus on delivering value.
It offers:

Open Source — Developed in the open by the IOTA Foundation, ensuring transparency, peer review, and continuous community-driven improvement.

Free — No pay-per-use fees or licensing costs. Organizations can scale without worrying about rising infrastructure expenses.

Neutral — Stewarded by a non-profit foundation with public governance, avoiding vendor lock-in and commercial bias.

Compliance-Ready — Built to align with identity, data protection, and financial regulations, supporting industries where trust and accountability are mandatory.

Public Infrastructure — Anchored to IOTA’s decentralized L1 network, ensuring security, resilience, and verifiability for all participants.

The IOTA Trust Framework covers the most critical areas where trust is needed — and each area already has live adopters building solutions:

Digital Identity: Organization IDs, educational credentials, and access management. Example: Impierce Technologies is issuing tamper-proof, globally verifiable diplomas and certifications.

Trade & Supply Chain: Secure trade documentation, customs verification, and stakeholder accreditation. Example: TWIN is replacing paper-based trade documents with verifiable digital records.

Circular Economy: Digital Product Passports, carbon credit tracking, and sustainability audits. Example: Orobo is anchoring lifecycle checkpoints to comply with EU sustainability regulations.

Product Tracking & Provenance: Sensor data integrity, lifecycle management, and device-level permissions. Example: ObjectID is creating digital twins for physical goods with verifiable identifiers.

Real-World Asset Tokenization: Compliant tokens for securities, commodities, and other tangible assets, including full lifecycle management. Example: Salus is tokenizing critical mineral trades to unlock liquidity and automate finance.

Authenticity & Ownership: Intellectual property verification, licensing tracking, and originality proofs. Early pilots underway – watch this space.

These adopters are just the beginning. More organizations are turning these exact needs into production-grade solutions on IOTA’s public infrastructure.
