Altcoin Sherpa Exits $ASTER After Volatile Drop

Renowned crypto trader Altcoin Sherpa recently shared his decision to exit his position in $ASTER, the native token of the decentralized exchange Aster, following a sharp price decline triggered by airdrop news. In a post on October 5, 2025, Sherpa detailed taking a loss after entering the trade at a high of $2, with the price dropping to $1.87 due to violent price action. The chart he shared highlights a critical support zone around $1.55-$1.65, where the token experienced a significant sell-off after failing to hold above $1.58. Sherpa attributed the downturn to a negative market reaction to the airdrop unlock scheduled for October 5, which likely prompted profit-taking and reduced trading volume.

Despite the setback, Sherpa acknowledged the potential for a short-term bounce, given the liquidation flush and the backing of influential figures like CZ (Changpeng Zhao), the former Binance CEO. However, he opted to stay sidelined, citing the high risk and uncertainty tied to the trade, which hinged heavily on CZ’s influence and Binance ecosystem support.

Obviously the price action is extremely violent and bad reaction to the airdrop news. This could still scam up given the backing and the people behind it but I'm going to stay away for now. Is what it is, I knew the risks entering so high before. https://t.co/xm4VVKcszt pic.twitter.com/T647V1wLLs
— Altcoin Sherpa (@AltcoinSherpa) October 5, 2025

The chart’s green shaded area, representing a key consolidation zone, suggests that $ASTER could still recover if buying pressure returns, but Sherpa’s cautious stance reflects the unpredictable nature of the current market.

Market Volatility Reinforces Risk Discipline

For investors, this move underscores the risks of entering trades at peak levels, especially around airdrop events that can lead to volatility. Sherpa’s exit at $1.87, just above the $1.85 stop-loss he mentioned earlier, shows disciplined risk management. As of now, $ASTER trades at $1.86 (as per the latest chart data), with analysts eyeing $1.65 as a potential entry point for a rebound. The broader market’s reaction to the airdrop unlock will be crucial in determining the token’s next move.
